    O/T Religion

Dangerous topic methinks, given what they say about discussing religion and politics...
I was prompted to post something remembering Lincs Baggie and attending his Mormon funeral service with half a dozen posters from WBAMAD. Lincs displayed his Christianity when necessary, but never forced his beliefs.
I was wondering whether others share similar beliefs ?
For me, I’m a Catholic as a result of my parents upbringing.
    Anyone else ?

    I was christened C of E but I’m a non believer.

Some of my family are Jehovah’s Witnesses but I didn’t see anything!👀

They’ve never tried preaching to us so we get on fine.

Lincs was a lovely bloke but I never realised he was one of The Osmonds!

I’m a spiritual person in reality, I think a lot about life and death.

My philosophy is all about doing all I can to take care of my close family, I believe that if everyone had the same ethos the world would be a better place.

Too many religions and people try to impose their will and beliefs on other people.

Look after your own house is my view.

Interesting subject Prando, take the emotion out of it and I find it fascinating, I see organised religion as indoctrination, whether you get dragged to Church/Sunday School/Mosque/Synagogue etc as a child it becomes culturally ingrained, one thing I have learned from being lucky to have traveled the globe is that the fundamentals are the same across all religions and these in turn are adapted from earlier religions right the way back to our earliest roots. If you believe in god he is certainly not a Jew/Christian/Hindu or Moslem. I consider myself a man of science but also accept there is a mystery to the universe that we can’t fully explain, could this be something godlike, perhaps, either way we are tribal apes by design and religion is one way of carving us up, if it’s not by religion it’s by nation etc etc
Interested in others views particularly from those who do believe in a denominational god, not to poke sticks but to understand this better as it baffles me that people do.

On my fathers side it was Catholics and my mothers side C of E and apparently me dad was not happy when my mum refused to bring me up as a Catholic.

I admire all those who go to Church or the equivalent but really not interested in religion as it becomes an excuse to fall out/fight etc. I don't care whether someone is Catholic, Muslim or whatever as long as it makes them happy. There is only one God in the World.

No amount of praying will save West Brom that's for sure as we are going down like the Titanic! Wonder what religion Lai is?

    ”Wonder what religion Lai is?”
Escapism maybe!? We could do with that maybe for ”An Unparalleled Escape”... 😎

Communist. The Chinese Communist Party doesn’t recognise any religion, it is a threat to their total control.

I'm not religious, it's just a tool to control the masses.
I'm not having a funeral service, just burnt and scattered.
None of us are important really.

I've only skimmed through parts of the linked article on religion in China. Looks at state atheism, Chinese folk religion and the slow but steady increasing influence of wider world religions and the state's responses. Might be worth a read at some point.....

....... as for myself I follow no religion but respect the right of others to believe what they want. Just don't knock on my door and question my opinions or tell me what to pray several times a day and we'll get along just fine.

I’ve told the wife I want the minimum spent on my funeral, a cardboard casket will be more than good enough.

I wouldn’t care if they stuck my corpse in a seat in Halfords Lane to help fill in the blanks, it’s not like anybody will spot a dead body in amongst that lot.

I’m still toying with my music to disappear to, it’ll be one of these four,

1: Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd.

2: Man Of The World - Fleetwood Mac.

    3: More Than A Feeling - Boston.

4: My Sweet Lord - George Harrison.

Ideally I’d like all four played so I’ll probably request no hymns and just a one of these in between the obvious tributes being paid to me😏😌

I'm not having a service, no hymns, no word's, just gone.
I can't see why people spend money on vicars who never knew you and headstones that nobody will look at.
Once you draw your last breath there's really nothing more to say.🙂
