    What next

    Please tell me?
    Am I missing something?
Celtic keen to acquire the services of Robbie Brady and Dyche is considering a new contract
    for him!
A few seasons ago he was beginning to justify his price tag until Maguire (then of Leicester)
    intervened.
Football can be a cruel game, but as a Premier League player Brady looks well past it.
The list of 30 year old plus players the club recruits on long term contracts, when it's clear
looking at the ever increasing level of injuries the team seems to get must have something to
do with age is beyond me!
I am aware (like everyone else) that we need to recruit some new blood and today's debacle
is hopefully a “one off” but physically some don't seem up to the challenge of premier league
    football.
“It's important, but not essential” (that Burnley stay in the top flight) – Alan
    Pace.
"We're left with what we've got and we believe in what we've got." – Sean
    Dyche.
So extended contracts then, for Pieters (32), Cork (31), Lowton (31), Long (30),
JBG (30), with Brady (29) to follow, with last summer’s signing Stephens (31)
The absence of Gudmundsson who when fit and firing was clear today, but like Brady the
slightest knock sets him back on the injury list.
On another subject, any thoughts on whether Dyche will remain at the club for next season
    whatever this year's outcome?
I keep wondering if like Eddie Howe he will take his leave for 2021/22 and do some punditry.
Pace was keen to tell the media that Dyche “he had the manager's job as long as he wished”
but am sure Dyche knows that you can stay anywhere too long

All those players around 30+ years doesn't augur well for the future, we're running on fumes. Dyche has worked miracles but the last few games has shown his limitations, he can't think outside the box. I'd welcome Howe back, if we got relegated he'd get us back up there.

I have said on another thread that our injury problems may be down to the players ages.

It appears to have been the club or Dyche, prefers to have older, or as they say more experienced players, I feel that this recruitment policy was always going to punish us at some point and it would appear that now is the time it will.

You say Celtic are keen to sign Robbie Brady, with his injury record and performance levels of late I would suggest that we cut our losses and let him go. The club activated a years extension to his contract last summer when I believe he wanted to go to Newcastle along with Jeff Hendrick. It is always bad practice to keep players who want to move on. Although I think that James Tarkowski was the exception that proves that rule.

From the general comments the board of directors passed and possible those directors there at present have shown little to no ambition for several years. For the chairman to openly state that our premier league status is not essential but just desirable does not send out the correct message about the clubs ambition. This may have now drifted down to the manager, players and coaching staff as todays performance was one of the worst display’s I have seen by any Burnley FC team. We were extremely lucky not to lose to a team reduced to playing for an hour with ten men.

When interviewed Sean Dyche was saying last summer that he needed more players, and as we failed to improve the team. I do not count Dale Stephens as an improvement rather a waste of money on his showing so far, and Mike Garlick was duly pilloried.

When taking over as chairman Alan Pace said funding would be available in the January transfer window, yet still no team improvement, but Dyche then said he was happy with the squad he had at his disposal. Looking at our bench today I would question that our squad is good enough to survive in the Premier League.

I have never been a fan of the style of play in the Dyche era, but he as proved to be successful in keeping us in the Premier League, hopefully he can achieve the same this year but we need to improve very quickly.

I'd like to see Eddie think outside the box Chris, when he has a bench like Sean had today, and his players performing like they'd never seen a football in their lives before. Eddie spent around £200k in four seasons and still couldn't keep Bournemouth up, Sean has kept us up with just half that to spend, I don't share your enthusiasm for Mr Howe.

Sinkov, me neither. I think Eddie can't get players to defend at the level and consistency needed to survive. Yes he will play nicer football and entertain, but NOT keep us in the premier league.

Bringing Eddie Howe back would be the equivalent of ditching a long and faithful wife on the strength of a few good shags with an ex-bird.

Someone just needs to remind SD that you can change mid game from 4-4-2 to 5-4-1 or 4-3-3, but even Jose Mourinho would struggle to change tactics with two goalkeepers on the bench.

Our defence was a bit leaky with Howe, that was the first thing Dyche sorted, a lot of 0-0 draws before we progressed to 1-0 wins. Not much has changed, though it was enjoyable winning the Championship when we were scoring for fun.

Should Dyche depart, we should not be looking at our past managers or past players with little or no managerial experience. We have been caught in that trap previously with Brian Laws, who was out of work at the time which probably was a positive to our board of directors in that they would not need to pay any compensation.

In such circumstances I would like to think we could attract a manager who would like to rebuild our team as a footballing side, and at present there is a lot of rebuilding to be done. It is unfortunate that we find ourselves in this position but it is the result of bad or lack of suitable recruitment for the team and can only be described as being self inflicted.

if we were to be relegated than I could see Pope and Taylor as well as Tarkowski leaving, hopefully we will survive this crisis and be better for it next season.

It was enjoyable, good football, scoring for fun, a squad as good as any in the league, which we don't have now. Quite the opposite, which is possibly why we don't see much good football, or score for fun any more.

I agree but he had a good eye for recruiting players-something you cant say about Dyche.
