OT Most under or overrated films

I watched The Abyss last night after being told it was great and watched the special edition but thought the acting was really cheesy. Any others people didn't enjoy as much as they thought or more than they thought they would?

Overrated - most Tarantino, most franchise stuff, any Bond movie
Underrated - Who's seen Apocalypto (2006)? Gibson not flavour of the month back then, but leading figures in the industry seem to think it's an under-appreciated classic

Most underrated film I've seen recently is Poltergay. No seriously it's really funny especially considering it's French as well. I can assure you you will never listen to Boney-M in the same way again!

    IMO...

Most overrated: The Last Jedi. Lot of contenders for the title but this film made 2 billion bux and got almost universally positive reviews and the story barely even made sense to me. It was an absolute mess of tone, pacing, character... not-arcs etc.

Most underrated: Lots of contenders for this too! I'm going to pick Clue (1985) because I love it, think it's an excellent film but it got poor reviews and did poorly at the box office. I believe it's made a ton through video, DVD and blu-ray since though.

In other notes I liked the Abyss but it's just a good film and not a great one, and I thought Apocalypto was an excellent film...

Most overrated has to be the whole Fast & furious tripe. Most underrated I’d go with 2, because I can’t chose between them. A Vigilante - gritty and horrible, Olivia Wilde’s career high, and Locke starring the magnificent Christian Bale. See a mans life fall apart in basically a one take movie.

Yeah I like James Cameron, but the Abyss isn’t great.

As for over-rated, Forrest Gump is no 12 of all time on IMDB and it’s utter shyte.

I agree with you on Locke, but I think it was Tom Hardy not Christian Bale.

Overrated film of any decade has to be Mamma Mia closely followed by the Twilight films and The Favourite which was awful despite picking up oscars!
Try Dead Man’s Shoes with Paddy Considine as an underrated film.....awesome!!
