    Reda khadra

Is signing on a season long loan.
Tidy player and will definitely make a difference to us on the left.

yeah, he is meant to be decent this lad.
Hopefully we get a good season out of him, before he returns back to his parent club better and stronger.

I feel sorry for the under23 that will now not get a game or develop.
£6m a year it costs us to run that. And yet again it has produced players that the manager does not trust or want.
Seems a massive financial burden that is not paying off.

The burden is the manager not the academy.
A new manager with fresh ideas, might give the lads a chance but not mowbray.
He likes his old boys and like you said giving other teams youngsters a chance.
What I saw in the Leeds game and what I will see tomorrow night is quite a few raw but talented lads, longing for a chance but that old dinosaur mowbray won't give them that chance.
Having to wait until his hand is forced until trying them out.
Travis is a fine example of that, due to be loaned out but a suspension gave him the chance.

I don't really agree Mowbray is the problem.
He is just like most of the others. The next person would not change anything.
The problems would still exist. And they are bigger than us as a club.
Its just an unfair, flawed league where nobody can compete with the sides coming down.
Because of the riches they come down with for failure.

This would be the same if Pearson, Warnock, Hughton or the next young up and coming manager was here.

We would still have an expensive academy, we would still have had to sell our only decent player, we would still be in mountains of debt. Abd the end result would remain the same.

Mowbray is limited, and has his faults, and is far from perfect. But we would not be attracting anyone any better. But he is not underachieving here. Much to the disdain of alot of fans who want him gone because he is apparently failing.

I don't even think the academy is a burden, it creates players we rely on. But I remain stuck on, it doesn't produce any players we can sell. We all sit here and tell stories about all the players coming through, none of them have improved us. None of them have taken us forward. None of them appear to improve when they get in the first team.
Every club, would rather bring through their own players.
Had Brereton come through our academy, no way would he have gotten the dogs abuse he has received. He would have been given time. The fact remains, every single player we have signed for a fee, and most of the lads coming in on loan are better than what we have. With the odd exception.
There is better out there than what we are producing, which we could likley find at a cheap price, and sell at a higher.
We arent making a penny from the academy, as we arent selling any of them.

Its not the likes of Armstrong, who we bought and sold and made a bit of money on, its our own lads.
Nobody can seriously accuse Mowbray of not playing the academy lads, as they have all come in and played, and been given chances. Most of them just haven't been good enough.

Mowbray had no issues with playing a 17 year old. He played most of last season. After Armstrong, Elliott scored the most goals, and made the most. If you are good, you will play. Just he was ten times the player Butterworth, Dolan, Mcbride etc etc are.
But the academy is costing £6m a year we simply cant afford, as its not making us any money.

Once every 5 or 6 years we need to create our own Armstrong.
Up to now, only one of our academy players has gone up to the Prem. Raya. Who we only made £3.5m on.
That doesnt even cover one season of the academy.
It just isnt bearing anything like enough fruit.
And the players coming into our own first team, are not improving us.

Some of this I agree with some not.
Mowbray is one I don't agree with but we all know this anyway,so I won't go over it again.
The academy is ***** in one way,to supply us with players that we cannot afford to replace.
Nyambe,Rankin Costello, travis,Buckley, lenihan, all without the academy we would have to bring in from elsewhere.
I get the fact we are getting nothing back but these players are bulking a already thin squad out.
Yes it needs to repay eventually but the bigger picture is that it has it uses for sure.
Now the problem will be if we find no body coming through the current crop.
I have mentioned several names but if they are overlooked or deemed not good enough, then it becomes a burden.

maligorie and Carter wont be quite good enough. Thats another 2 bit of deadwood we are paying for the upkeep for and are no better than anything Morecambe had.
We would easily find Travis, Nyambe etc as all they are at best are very average Champ players. Who are ten a penny.
Div1 and 1 players could easily step up and do this job, and we would find them for alot less than paying £6m a year for an academy that produces nothing but average footballers who don't improve us.

Those 2 young lads at centre half got the run around last night. Imagine what will happen when Ayala gets injured and misses alot of the season. We are reliant on Wharton. I mean, he is ok, but not sure he will massively improve anything.

The one who is meant to be decent is Garrett. Not sure why he hasnt featured much yet.

Garrett is decent but will be left to rot or sent to a conference team.
Mowbray will go for a past it ex boro player I would imagine in preference.

It's ok. We have Bradley Johnson. I'm sure he will give his everything for the cause!!
The one who is going to be a massive player for Rovers this year is Buckley.

    Agree fully mate.
That lad has that extra bit of quality about him and could make a big difference.
He has pulled his socks up,shame some of the others can't follow his lead.
