    I Despair

Have you seen the thread on bbs ? .

You'll know the one if you go on there and read it .

Ok it's not exactly something I'd do but ffs it doesn't make the guy a racist or even a banning from Oakwell offence .

    Dear me .

He’s doing the moustache thing and Nazi salute and laughing at people on the Coventry bus.
A guy having a laugh in a manner similar to when Prince Harry turned up at a party wearing a Nazi uniform.
It’s not as tho he’s stood there stern faced doing the Nazi salute.
It’s inappropriate - but on the face of its not done maliciously.
Probably done after too much to drink trying to wind up people on the Coventry bus.
Somebody needs to have a word with him - end of.

But again - the reaction of BBS posters is totally alien to the views of ordinary Barnsley fans that I talk to.
We are a proud ex-mining town with an hardened work force.
I’m an ex-NUM rep - a lecturer on the NUM/British Coal course at Sheffield University said to us “miners were always considered conservative with a small ‘c’ “.
Those views persist in Barnsley to this day (hence the Brexit vote).
Barnsley folk were never the far left snowflakes that you now see dominating the BBS.
No one dare express a balanced view on the BBS these days without FEAR of being pounced on and abused.

What I also found distasteful on that BBS thread was Big Lil having to apologise for posting photos of scantily dressed women.
It is blatantly obvious that Big Lil loves and respects women.
In no way should he be apologising for that.
Another clear indication of how far the BBS has slipped into the cancel culture.

This thread also relates to previous threads on here of problems at the ground re: closing car parks and Jumble Lane.
Why the hell were buses containing opposing fans outside of the Mount after the match !?!?!
The authorities need to get a grip of the security situation on match days.

Apologies nudge I feel my comments on the other thread were a little harsh towards yourself regarding the match day arrangements .

I've seen the footage of it kicking off after the game on bbs .

    It's a fecking shambles .

Am I right in saying it occurred on Pontefract Road just near to the sandwich shop ?

If so what the fecking hell are Coventry fans doing there ?

The reds fans in fancy dress were drinking in The Manx pre match and were sound as a pound when I called in for a pint so not sure what's happened after the game and caused them to react the way one of two of em did .

As I said on the other thread some of the younger Coventry element were definitely looking for it and there was a definite edge to them .

As we all know if you are looking for it in Barnsley you will get a reaction and it appears the Coventry lot are attempting to play the victim card in my opinion .

The Nazi salute is embarrassing to be honest .

No need to apologise to me.
I very much welcome any alternative views you have.
Yes the salute was embarrassing - but who on here hasn’t done owt embarrassing after they’ve had too much to drink.
    I could write a book.

    I could write a trilogy nudge .

It's the world we live in today , everyone gets too easily offended in my opinion .

Things are taken out of context , trial by social media and Instagram .

I come from a culture where you had the pyss ripped out of you like many of us have , it was brutal but you gave what you took and nobody got offended and if you did then tough shyte .

A bit of balance doesn't seem there today .

Everyone calls us Dingles , extra fingers and we are all inbred apparently .

You just laugh it off , it doesn't particularly offend me because it's football banter .

I ent sin this Nazi salute (thuz allus some ballak brain bevvied up int the) but I can't help thinking of Fawlty Towers 'The Germans' episode when Basil does the march I reckon comedy like that will never exist again in the current era because folk are too easily offended.

When a wo younger guin to away matches ont Dove coach the wo some reight stuff went off, especially if tha went away to Bolton, Burnley or Bradford if tha gets mi drift. Looking back it were a mixture o harmless drunken fun and ignorance. At time it seemed funny but I worra daft ****ager missen 25 year agu.

Yep - what was acceptable then isn’t acceptable now.
But even during that era how many actually HATED black and Asian people.
In all my life - and all the people I’ve met - I’ve come across THREE.
And that was influenced more by their religion and not the colour of their skin.

BTW - this is why this message board is better than the BBS.
We couldn’t have this discussion on the BBS without abusive language being thrown about.

Nudge, how do you know the Nazi salute is not malicious? Why do it? We have our fair share of racists within our support and a number of idiots. It is out of order, end of

    We can only assume.
But he’s laughing and doing the Hitler moustache thing with his fingers - so it dosent look malicious.
But then again - we don’t know who he is gesturing to - or why - which obviously makes a difference.

    Racists within our support ?
Have we supporters that wouldn’t hug Obbi on his debut if he scores ???
Personally I don’t think we have.
But if we have - then they want excluding from the ground.

However, thing is about football - and I’m not saying this is right - opposing supporters will shout out anything if they know it’s going to upset an opposition team player.
Supporters trying to pick out something that is different about an opposition player and use that to try and unnerve them.
    Nothing is excluded.
We have only to remember horrendous things chanted at Billy Sharpe and Paddy Kenny to realise this.

We have seen it time and again on the tele - chanting racist things at black players to upset them - when individuals in their gang of mates are black.
It’s wrong - because we don’t want to hear it.
But are those chanting these things trying to upset opposition players - or are they out and out racists ?

I think Britain is currently at the forefront of trying to make racism a thing of the past.
IMO - Britain is the least racist country in the world.
I’m not that old - but I remember a time not that long ago when it was very rare to see a black or Asian person in Barnsley.
But it’s still strange especially for the older generations in some parts of the country to see different looking people with different cultures - so banishing racist behaviour is going to take time.
But we are definitely getting there.
