I saw the play a couple of years ago in London at the old County Hall and it was staged in such a way you felt part of the trial. Very clever and a different experience. Would highly recommend.

By pure chance I watched a 1957 black and white movie called “Witness For The Prosecution” on Monday night.
The quality of the acting and cinematography was truly magnificent.
Lead actor was Charles Laughton, I’d never seen him before, what a fantastic character actor.
Marlene Dietrich was about 57 in the film but was utterly beautiful and compelling.
Tyrone Power was also in it, he died of a heart attack a year after making the film at the age of 44.
Every character was so well written and acted, it made today’s stuff look so lightweight.
What time is Home and Away on tonight?
Is Alf still in it?

The wife and I love watching the old black and white movies. The ones mentioned, the Bogart movies. A brilliant one for atmosphere and tension is Robert Mitchum in Night Of The Hunter.
I first watched 'Witness For The Prosecution' sat at home with mom and dad. That I recall it 50 years or so later shows how much of an impact it had on me. Watched it a few times since somewhat reduced in impact because the brilliant 'twist' is known. Superb acting.
Love a black and white war film particuarly those made during the war which are basically propaganda. Favourites include 'One of Our Aircraft is Missing' and 'The Day Will Dawn.' The Brits and resistance fighters are all good looking, brave and have the compulsory stiff upper lip whilst the Germans are all fat, stupid and cowardly. For a bit of the grim reality 'The Cruel Sea' is hard to beat. The book is even better.
Top stuff. We watch a lot of Black and white films and find them far more relaxing than today’s stuff. Adverts bring you back to reality though and raise the decibels.
