More players not good enough offloaded to other teams in the ‘group’

Barnsley Football Club can confirm that Rudi Pache and Steve Simpson have joined Esbjerg fB on permanent deals.

The duo were originally on loan in Denmark along with fellow Reds Patrick Schmidt, Charlie Winfield and Matty Wolfe having signed earlier this summer.

Defender, Pache, has so far featured four times since arriving at the Blue Water Arena and the club will retain an interest in his future.

Canadian forward, Simpson, originally part of the Reds in the Community Shadow Scholarship programme, has made five appearances while out in Scandinavia and is excited to start his next chapter: “The Shadow Scholarship programme helped me stay in football full-time and then granted me the opportunity to step up to sign a professional deal with Barnsley FC. Of course, I thank everyone at Oakwell who were involved in my journey!”

Barnsley FC Academy Manager, Bobby Hassell, is proud of the steps that the pair are making in the professional game. He said: “Both Steve and Rudi have worked incredibly hard to reach level they are currently at.

“The Club has provided them with a platform to both develop and showcase their talent, now, having impressed in Denmark, they are rewarded with a permanent move to play men’s football at a first division side. With the close relationship that we have with Esbjerg fB, we will continue to monitor their development over the next few years.

“The pathway is there in our academy and I am sure that we will see more young players make a name for themselves at Oakwell in the near future.”

Everyone at Oakwell would like to wish Rudi and Steve the very best of luck.

Players being moved around was always going to happen and we usually get the good end of the stick but reading and talking to some fans at the other teams they’re getting a bit fed up with this. These two have done nothing on loan to deserve a contract I’m told but have still been removed from our pay role and put onto theirs.

The club has obviously a strategy of giving young players a chance to prove themselves.
    Which I believe is commendable.
But if they don’t make the grade their contract is ended - if however the club sees a bit of potential then they are moved to another club.
It must be costing the club a fortune acquiring clubs and employing all these players.
But it’s a strategy that hopefully will unearth a diamond.

Clearly that strategy hasn’t to be confused with the one that identifies players more suitable for the 1st Team.
Although some players drop between the two eg Simoes.
All of this Windows signings should be able to slot into the 1st team.
There’s been a few doubts expressed about Cole - but the bit I’ve seen of him he looks very quick and could be useful this season.

Is there anyone on here that watches these younger players regularly and think we should have kept Rudi Pache and Steve Simpson on.
Hundreds of young players have been released throughout the English leagues this summer with a big number out of work apparently.
Good luck to Rudi and Steve in their new venture.

No I don’t think we should have kept them but the point is the fans of clubs we’ve sent them to are not impressed either. Esbjerg are bottom of the Danish first division and getting hammered every week, their fans say this is the worst season they’ve experienced. If they go down to the Danish second division they’ll be the only professional club in that league, even in the first division they are playing clubs who are semi pro. They can’t believe they are getting all our unwanted youngsters when they are in such a mess.

I’m more interested with our position in the championship to be honest.

The whole youth development plan is pretty flawed in my opinion .

Just about every top young player in the country ends up at City , United , Chelsea or Liverpool .

The financial incentives they offer to young kids at 12 to 16 years of age takes the likes of us out of the game .

You may get the odd one slipping through the net like we did with John Stones but the plan in my mind isn't worth pursuing with those kind of one in twenty years odds .

Ditch the academy , it ain't worth the expense .

Install a B team and concentrate on the talent that's released by City , United , Chelsea and Liverpool etc etc .

    Just my opinion mind .
