Not a bad list really considering how bad our transfer window was according to a certain footballing guru.![]()
Rathbone? Reg? Odoffin? Ferguson? Grigg? Bola ? Chapman?
Chapman? Looked reasonable and somebody to work with with the future in mind. A decent signing.
Odoffin? Too few appearances to decide yet. Hasn't done anything particularly wrong in those appearances. Time will tell.
Ferguson? Certainly got some skill but not sure he has the engine at his age to be wing back. Maybe just use him as a bit player or just as an out and out winger
Bola? Not done owt daft inthe few times I've seen him. Looks like a raw Harding, a similar build and style but Harding turned out ok lets hope T can develop in the same way.
Grigg? He has obviously still got it. Reads the game well. Quicker and better in the air than what you may think given his stature. Glad he got his first league goal yday will help his confidence and brilliantly taken from a tight angle. Given a run of games, I think he will start knocking em in now (hopefully not so many that Sunderland want him back in Jan)!
Rathbone? So positive in everything he does and such an engine on him. He was the only one who was likely to score at all as he did against Crewe the other day. You always feel when he gets into a tackle summat positive is going to happen next because of it. Reminds me of a Mick Gooding all action type. Not the biggest which worries me because one day he may over do it or some cynical defender or midfielder might take him out.
Reg? This lad has grown on me. I thought he looked a bit small for a CB when he first come but he more than makes up for his slight lack of height with his ability to read the game, his heading ability and speed. Playing alongside Woody will help him develop as well.
So I'm going to plump for Rathbone, Reg and Grigg as best summer signings but there is no reason why some of the others cant come good as well.
All in all a decent set of summer signings. We just needed that left sided defender. Hopefully that will be a priority in Jan.

Shame Roly 2 of the 3 are not ours.
Indeed Cayton, enjoy them while we can. Think we might keep Reg all season unless Udders have injury probs or start slipping down the league dangerously. Can't see them letting us have him permo.
Grigg will go in Jan if he starts banging em in for us. I suspect Sunderland will flog him then cos he will have a number of suitors. It will be Kieffer Moore all over again I'm afraid and we won't be able to do owt about it. Hopefully he will have scored enough goals by then to have us there or thereabouts before he goes. Then our hunt for a striker will start again and could be a hunt for 2 if Smudge goes as well.

No brainer for me. How the hell did Rochdale keep hold of him for so long? 🤷
Has to be Rathbone for the best bit of business so far. Phenomenal workrate but also with quality, not just a hard worker but a very good footballer to go with it. Can't help but love what the lad brings. You can see why PW seemed to go back to TS and say 'we need to get this lad, give them the money'.
Biggest surprise so far has to be Reg. Looked undersized when I first saw him. Not particularly big nor 'centre half built' but pleasantly surprised with each passing game. Don't mind admitting I thought he was a bit of a meh signing but I'm really pleased, nice to be proven wrong.
