I’ve had a good look back at our last aggregated season (46 games) which takes us back to November 24th 2020.

P46 W15 D14 L17 Points 59

Looking at last season’s table that would have given us a finishing position of 15th. However some people point at a slump in our form from the start of the year, since when we have had the following results:

P36 W8 D13 L15 Points 37

If you work that out as points per game, that’s a season’s performance of 47 points, which would have had us finishing 22nd last season, just one place above the relegation spots. All well and good, but there was a 4 week break in our season in January which is when I feel the wheels fell off and our performances dropped away. From 30th January when we started playing again the results were:

P35 W7 D13 L15 Points 34

That’s a more sobering figure, working out at 45 points over 46 games, enough to get us relegated last season. Putting the Board and our finances aside for a moment, our management team’s complete failure to coax any sort of meaningful and lasting performance out of our squad, which was arguably better last season, is unarguably dragging us down to the National League. Unless there is change very soon that’s very likely where we’ll be next season.
