    U23s Game

See one we won 4-0 and two we had a trialist playing up front, he also scored our first.

Do we know who he is? Heard anything about him?

    Apprently someone called Isaac Westendorf.

The article is one from when he made his debut last week against Boro.

    ----------------------------------------
Young striker Isaac Westendorf showed his potential for Newcastle’s under-23s on Friday night as he bids to climb up the football rungs and prove himself Premier League quality.

The 19-year-old played for Barking last season in the Isthmian League, a regional league in London and the South East comprising mainly semi-professional clubs.

Westendorf impressed at the East London club though, getting himself on the scoresheet regularly, before wanting to make some progress in his career this season, starting with a deserved trial with Newcastle United.

Jacob Ranson, a reporter for the Barking & Dagenham Post, who watched Westendorf play for Barking last season, said: “Isaac is fast, powerful and was extremely impressive for Barking.

“Often youngsters, despite how good they are, struggle to adapt to men’s football initially, but not Isaac, as he got himself into the first-team and found the back of the net consistently.”

Last night Westnedorf made his debut, coming off the bench during the under-23s derby between Newcastle and Middlesbrough at St James’ Park, which the Magpies won 4-1. Westendorf only played half an hour but made a mark.

With academy boss Steve Harper in the stands, Westendorf put the ball in the net, but the goal was ruled out due to being out of play in the build up. Another effort was saved, while another cross which he looked destined to put away was instead finished by Boro defender Cain Sykes in his own goal.
