I'm not buying it, they'd be more bothered by another superclub (for the want of a better word) to compete against than KSA's world reputation.

Went on a couple of other boards yesterday - Villa were generally OK about it, Liverpool was an odd one - some didn’t begrudge us, others thought we are so far behind we won’t be a threat for ages, one bloke though called us the usual - deluded, horrible fans, don’t deserve anything, hope we get relegated etc. etc. Weird how someone who can clearly read and write can come up with that generalisation for 50,000 regulars and however many with some sort of support for the club. There’ll be Doctors, teachers, paramedics, people who’ve served to name a few respected professions with Toon affinity but this geezer has all of us as a bunch of scum

“The Guardian reports: "Clubs have expressed concern that the Premier League’s brand could be damaged by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) taking an 80 per cent stake in Newcastle.”

And yet the brand wasn’t ‘damaged’ by an asset stripping owner transforming a club that regularly competed at the top of the table, played over 100 times in Europe, appeared in cup finals into a laughing stock who battled and twice failed against relegation, sold off land to himself to turn a profit, neglected the academy, allowed the ground to fall into disrepair and most damaging of all nullified hope and lost a whole generation of support - they weren’t too vocal then, wânkers.

And they wouldn't of been vocal had it been a mid-level billionaire from Saudi.

It's only cos we can blow them out of hte water now if we choose financially.

As someone else said, the fact they are claiming they were told about it too late (where have they been the last 18 months?) shows/proves that the other clubs do in fact have a say , and obviously have said their pieces to stop this deal go through , despite what the pl claim.

In my view the deal was passed because the pl knew they couldn’t allow arbitration to take place as it would publically expose the level of corruption they gave employed to delay this deal in the hope the Saudis would go away.
