I see Pope was poor again

Thread for all the Pope doubters this one , I’ve read the last few weeks he’s not good enough ?
Looks alright to me in fact some of his saves yesterday were unbelievable and the one from Toney against Brentford was better than credit was given to him.
We’ll be in a sorry state if we lost him that is for sure.

Pope is a class act, a couple of injuries and a dip in confidence meant his performances were a bit lower than usual,

Looks to me like he is getting back to his best. Billy and Sean know what they are doing.

Unfortunately Gareth doesn’t and he is the one who picks the team. Even if Popey was in the squad he would not get a game.

I'd rather Pope was kept out of the England spotlight, the constant disparaging of his kicking by the media must have damaged his confidence.

Straight question - Pope or Pickford in the Burnley goal?

Pope every time 4 me. Of the Keepers in the England squad I would say Ramsdale is in the best form but he won’t get picked ahead of Pickford.

Sorry BT this is a no brainer Pope is far better than Pickford. I think the only manager to prefer Pickford is Southgate and he appears quite clueless.

Pope is a good keeper, but he's not infallible, he's not in the same league as Tom Heaton was, and the day a top club fronts up and signs him, I'll hold my hand up and admit I was wrong. But he won't be signed by a top club, and there's a reason for that, work it out.

Heaton and Pope have been largely responsible for our stay in the Prem in my view, both excellent ball stoppers.

Sometimes sinkov (it's usually politics related) your brain goes totally left field. Tom did us proud, Pope is a cracking keeper but the unjustified dog's abuse he got for his supposed lack of kicking ability did his confidence a lot of harm.

Give your old head a wobble mon ami...

    Sinkov,
NO goalkeeper is infallible. If that were the case no striker would ever score against them. Every conceded goals is almost certainly preventable. The quest is is the keeper quality or not given other choices around? If we do not have Pope then who going forward long term then? I've never seen a world class keeper not make a mistake.
