Gerrard to the Villa- good move or not ?

Like Eddie Howe up on Tyneside, Gerrard will be under huge pressure right from the start. I could have taken a team to the Scottish title with the squad they have, especially with only one half decent challenger to compete with ,to be Scotland’s top dog. I really thought Gerrard would have stayed there for another couple of years, before returning to the PL, with maybe Liverpool as the destination. That could still happen. As for Villa, they haven’t been the same team since Grealish left for the Etihad, despite re investing the money to strengthen the squad.Make no mistake, this is a big challenge ,at a big club with big expectations. Whether Gerrard is the answer , remains to be seen. What do others think ?

He's nowhere near ready for the EPL. He will take Villa down.

One less for us to worry about I reckon.

A good appointment. I think Stevie G will do well. Darren Farley is said to be thrilled.

We will see. Stenhousemuir and East Kilbride don't turn up in the EPL very often.

I find it difficult to judge the standard in Scottish football. Although Rangers and Celtic qualify for Europe time and again, I don’t think that they overwhelm the competitions.

It is also difficult to judge Villa. Grealish was injured so much of the time I doubt that the current malaise is down to him leaving. Ings is a proven goal scorer. Buendia was key to Norwich, but at Championship level. The lad from Brentford is still an unknown at this level. And yet they are where they are.

I wish Stevie G well, as long as they finish below us. He appears to have been able to motivate the squad at Rangers. I am sure that he will not settle for less than 100% from the players. I think that Gary McCallister is a tough guy with no mercy for less than 100% effort.

For once I'm flummoxed, I don't have an opinion, I'm sitting on the fence, he might do a good job for Villa, or he might not. Who knows, I don't.

This could go one of two ways for me - if they win early and get a little momentum he’ll be fine but if they struggle a bit , it’s a tough ask to
    Get those fans on side.

Away from Scotland though , he has quality players at Villa that are capable of top half finishing - the difference here is you have to get players up for every game not once a month ,

Stevie is a proven winner Football wise so if he gets a win and a bit of momentum he’ll be fine I
Think - after all it is just a stepping stone to
    Get back to Anfield .

With Norwich, Newcastle and Villa hitting the panic button so early I am of the firm belief that Captain Dyche will lead us to safer waters.

I am disappointed he just upped and headed off from the Gers, leaving them in the deep brown stuff. Usual Scouser - no class!
