The academy

Once safety is secured wouldn't it be fantastic eventually for the academy to provide the bulk of the future stars of the club instead of just the odd one every few years with the bulk of the local area's talent being picked up by other clubs.

I have never seen it in my lifetime and it's about time the situation seriously changed.

FFP can’t block how much we invest in that. And I’d personally like to see us make to best academy in the world to circumvent the FFP old-boys protection racket.

Aye, that's the dream, Pat. There'll be Geordie versions of Alexander-Arnold, Sakha, Foden and the like out there. It'll take a few years but it'll happen.

Just imagine that with a bit of foresight over recent years we could have had the Charlton brothers, held Shearer, had the likes of Bruce (as a player only) Carrick, Bryan Robson, Ray Kennedy, Trevor Steven, and countless others.

I'm sure most of you can add a few to the list that I've left out.

As Trin said, would be lovely to see money poured into the academy as it is outside FFP.
