THIS is the standard and ethos the club aspires to, if your ideas and ideals don’t match up then don’t bother signing up!

Whats shocking about this game is that it was 43 years ago, good lord where does the time go?
What a team we had back then, proper footballers, no posers or lightweights in that bunch. I am fortunate to have been around to watch them.
FOL
We had already beaten Valencia, Wolves and Arsenal before that game, we went top of the table in January and then we didn't play for weeks. When we did we were playing three games a week, we played four when we had Leeds in the cup.
We were never the same again and at the end of the season we were out on our feet.
Totally correct. The fifties side set the blue print for the way every Albion team is expected to play. It's why the fans won't tolerate Ismael, just as we didn't with Howe, Gould and Pulis. The stuff we are playing now is awful to watch.
I have said that the results are the most important thing, but are they? Albion fans love being entertained. This is why we have the Val out protests and people talking about stopping going despite our position in the table.
Not only are we not being entertained but we're not getting the results either. Something has to change, and quickly.
I'm old enough to just remember the 53/54 side. I've been reading the book 'The Team of the Century' by Dave Bowler. As a football team we were years ahead of our time and only injuries and international call ups stopped us winning the double. Then there was the cup side of the 60's and who can forget Atkinson's side of the late 70's? What's being served up now is an insult to those teams.
I fully realise that we don't have the financial resources to be a top team but, as we have seen in the recent past, with the correct organisation, both on and off the field, we can compete in the Premier division. This side and the way that they play are nowhere near good enough to achieve this.
Those were the days ! Funny though because you sometimes think that you look back on such games through rose tinted glasses and that today's top teams and players in the Premiership must be much better now but then you see clips like this on YouTube and you know you were right afterall 😎Maybe today's top players are technically fitter but they don't seem so robust and it would be fun to see how they'd fare with heavier balls, no underground heating and playing on a mudbath. I remember seeing Laurie Cunningham playing in the snow and he just seemed to glide effortlessly past everyone. Loved that particular Albion squad and such a pity it all sort of collapsed quite soon afterwards and that they never achieved what they promised. Proper entertainment, skill and desire. What happened eh?
