What is the purpose of the academies?

MB was asked about JG and this is his reply so makes me wonder why we spending all the effort in under 23s than ready-made players. In a way now I know the reason he is hesitant in playing them.
The influence that I have over his game is very relative, he's a player who is able with his individual qualities to resolve a lot of things in the play. I simply accompany his evolution in a very difficult league like this one, I can't be precise but I don't think there are many 20 or under-20-year-olds playing in the Premier League who come from the academy or from the development phase. And when a player establishes himself at that age and origin in the first team it's because he's shown that he's very good. The Premier League is not a competition that has patience in the evolution in the performance of the players and in the case of Gelhardt he needs to be able to take continuous steps in his evolution. It's not easy to play well and be able to play. So the time that his evolution or development takes is always going to be an investment.

So it's classed as investment hummmmm. The reason Mr. MB they aren't many playing is like you some won't be given a chance as in our case you a forced to play them because with your training methods you don't have any players left.
Even when they do show something you still deny them and go back to your star players like Roberts Costa if he was still here and the likes. I know we have gone through this talk before but him coming out with comments like that proves what some have been saying. You would think from Meslier And Pat actually making the grade when similar circumstances arose would have changed his attitude but apparently not.

If you're a top 6 club with a suitably deep set of pockets it's a place where you can corral taĺented youth players who would otherwise be a threat of acquired by the club's lower down the division, with the odd "diamond in the rough" emerging more by luck than good management. If you're not in that hallowed group, it's a revenue stream, with young players progressing through the various youth teams prior to being loaned out to lower league clubs to "shop window" them prior to being sold, with little or no prospect of ever being considered for 1st team exposure.

Yeah baffled me that they are even talking of sending Greenwood and Sumner out with the current situation we are in and they are only 2. Looks like Jan once again will ripen some fruit as so many first-team players acquired we can run 3 teams lol
He also talked about taking the 3 players of at halftime in the under 23s to suit himself as if he would play them anyway which affected the team as the 3 that replace them more or less are not that good lol. So much faith is beyond belief.
He also came out that he has failed us this season but when some question his methods they are set upon but hey my views are mine and there's are theres.

Having just read the latest injury woes I hope they have some stars in waiting - Gelhardt out for three/four weeks and apparently Cresswell has a dislocated shoulder

Yep, How old was Rooney 16 for Everton. They either have it or not. I laugh when I see 22 23-year-olds in developing teams.

Here in the afl ozzie rules, I recall a player at 15 making his debut and turned out one of the bests of the game. They changed the rules as it is a very tough rough game where you have to be 18 before you can play.

    Pretty sure that

Milner made his debut aged 15
    delph aged 17
    Cook aged 17

They have all turned out pretty well

And the most recent of those was 7 years ago. Any more contemporary examples?
