Crazy amount of money if that is indeed the fee. Wrexham are the Newcastle of the National League - having to pay over the odds to get players, it seems.

Very noticeable how few fees have been paid in the past few days in the EFL. Lots of loans and frees, but very few bank transfers being made. Money’s probably pretty tight everywhere but north Wales and northeast England.

They're stuck in that middle ground where the really good players in Leagues One and Two would probably still prefer to wait for a move upwards rather than take Wrexham's money and drop down, but no matter who Wrexham bid for they're still charged a premium, so they're building a team that would probably hold its own or a little more in League Two, but for a hell of a big price and a wage bill.

Especially if they don't go up with FFP coming in next season.
