My mate currently resident in the south had a long debate with fellow tipplers about the meaning of the word corry. Apparently it started when some doting grand father proudy announced the arrival of grand daughter Corry. Whereupon the comment was that it wasn't a good name as it was a slang name for p rick especially in Carlisle. Further research showed this to be the case and was linked to gypsy wordage, especially around Aspatria. Now I have never heard it, and going to Wigton school there were a lot of pupils from the Aspatria area. Whatever, if ever I am in that area i will avoid suggesting a carry oot.
