Sunderland F.C. Chairman Admits Minority Stake in Club

Funny goings on at Sunderland, after the chairman Kyril Louis-Dreyfus admitted having
a minority stake in the football club.
A club statement to supporters confirmed the 25 year old owns just 41% , with previous
ownership group - comprising Stewart Donald, Juan Sartori, & Charlie Methven retaining
    59% stake between them.
The Swiss businessman Kyril Louis-Dreyfus, who completed his takeover of the club in
February 2021, has only ever stated he has a ' Controlling Stake ' in Sunderland.
How ever, it was never known that Kyril Louis-Dreyfus owned less than a majority
    shareholding.
Ahead of a meeting with Sunderland supporters on Wednesday, he wrote : ' As previously
stated , I have executive control of running the football club, something that was a
fundamental requirement upon the purchase of my shares, & the executive management
team of Steve Davison & Kristjaan Speakman report directly in to me on a day to day basis.
All major strategic decisions related to the club, continue to be taken by the board of
directors, comprising of myself, Maurice Louis-Dreyfus, David Jones, Steve Davison,
Igor Levin, Patrick Treuer, Juan Sartori, & Simon Vumbaca '.

The Sunderland fans unhappy with the development.

Summary - It would seem the wool was pulled over the eyes of Sunderland supporters,
reading the report it would seem Sunderland F.C. needed money pumping into the club,
so Kyril Louis-Dreyfus bought shares on a fundamental requirement that he had
executive control of the club, also he only ever stated he has a controlling stake in the club.

    On the Sunderland theme -

Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has revealed Sunderland manager
Lee Johnson wanted his club to sign 27 year old striker Jonson Clarke-Harris, from
Peterborough United, Clarke-Harris having a £6m price tag.
The deal never materialised, Lee Jonson later getting the sack.
Darragh MacAnthoney reportedly said, " Lee Johnson wanted him, Yep, Thats the Truth ".

Summary - Have Sunderland got big money in the coffers, which it would seem everyone
    is led to believe.

Shareholders Stewart Donald, Juan Sartori, & Charlie Methven of Sunderland, known under
the company name of Madrox own 59% stake in the club.
With Kyril Louis-Dreyfus owning the other 41% stake in the club, when he bought the shares
    in February 2021.

But before the sale - Sunderland were made by the Court of Arbitration, who ruled that the
club must pay former winger Ricky Alvarez £4.7m in compensation, in January 2021.
This meant cash injections from the then shareholders [Madrox] of £11.35m revealed in
    accounts published last summer 2021.
Stewart Donald & Charlie Methven both voluntarily waived the right to be on the board,
after the sale of shares to Kyric Louis-Dreyfus in February 2021.
Stewart Donald has made a statement saying, His only active involvement has been to
full fill his funding commitment, while declaring that he is happy to sell his remaining
    shares.

Summary - Again it would seem Sunderland needed funds into the club in 2021, so the
shareholders allowed Kyric Louis-Dreyfus to buy a stake in Sunderland on his terms.

ELK, it matters diddly squat how much a club may have as buying power. Until the Manager/coach gets it right on the pitch they are going nowhere.

I wonder how many Chairmen out there wished they had Warney and his backroom staff at the helm?

    Now that’s an interesting one.

Some managers are crap when it comes to having a big budget and end up spending “ bad” money

    Paul Pogba for example

Where has the new chairman misled Sunderland fans. When he took over he said he had a " controlling interest in the club ". He didn't say he was the biggest overall shareholder.
Previous chairman is on record as saying his shares are still available for sale at the previous price. Failing to see where he's actually misled them.
Did he say he was going to pour millions & millions of £££'s into Sunderland FC.

I quite liked Donald, Charlie on the Sunderland til I die Netflix series. At the beginning some Sunderland fans said hopefully their not a couple of southern wide boys wanting to make a quick buck!!!

    Interesting reading this Eric!!!!

Read the post godsend, Dreyfus put money into the club, on the understanding he controlled the club, he put him self up has being the person in control, when in fact he was not, he more or less said do my way or I don't put money in club. Even Sunderland fans have grasped this if you have not.
