It’s a natural thing to be pessimistic. It comes with the territory.

I still believe us and Wigan will be well clear as I expect MK to drop a few points before the end of the season.

If we don’t go up automatically, then we won’t deserve it and either Plymouth or MK will have had outstanding finishes to the season.

It is going to be close but with our key players back I think we have enough.

On the topic of being pessimistic there’s still a chance we could be playing SWFC in the league 1 playoff final

Why not go the whole 'pessimism' hog and say we could be losing to SWFC in the playoff semi final

Theoretically yes. If we go into administration for a 3rd time and we aren't managed by someone resembling Mr. Potato Head I believe the EFL penalty could be 100 points.

There’s nothing like optimism is there? And this is nothing like it.

Anyone remember 1973 by the way?
We had never been relegated to league 4.

It was in the days of two points for a win.

We had 41 points from 43 games
Halifax had 33 points from 42 games

We needed a point to stay up.

    Results :

    20th April 1973: Blackburn 2 Rotherham 1
    21st April 1973: Halifax 3 Charlton 0

    23rd April 1973: Rotherham 2 Oldham 3
    24th April 1973: Halifax 2 Southend 1

    28th April 1973: Rotherham 1 York City 2
    28th April 1973: Halifax 2 Bournemouth 0

    1st May 1973: Walsall 0 Halifax 1

    Final Table

York City (18th) Watford (19th) Halifax (20th) all finished on 41 points, the same as Rotherham (21st) who were relegated for the first time to League 4 with the highest points total for a relegated team in that league.

So I will only celebrate if and when it is mathematically impossible for us to be caught by the third placed team.
