Could he be the front runner for Chelsea? The hero returns home type of story?
Nothing would bring me greater joy than to see them return to the mid table fodder they really are as a club
I dislike Chelsea as much as anyone, believe me, but describing them as "mid table fodder" risks making yourself look a tad "out of touch with reality". Since 2000, I wish LUFC had a record like theirs;
League titles
First Division / Premier League

FA Cup

Football League Cup / EFL Cup
Winners : 2004–05, 2006–07, 2014–15
FA Charity Shield / FA Community Shield[nb 4]
Winners : 2000, 2005, 2009
European competitions
UEFA Champions League

UEFA Europa League

Hardly the record (and spanning two decades) of a "mid table fodder" club. We underestimate any club at our peril.
Abramovich is selling the club as he is a potential target for sanctions following Russias invasion of Ukraine. If that happens, he (potentially) would get nothing if the assets (CFC) is seized and confiscated. Better to sell and get something, than keep and risk losing it all.
(and I don't believe a word of the bullsh1t about donating any profit from the sale to the victims of Russian genocide and war crimes)
Me neither, and that's obviously not the reason for the sale. As for deep pockets, Abramovich has apparently put a price tag of £4bn on the club, but I doubt he will get it. Like I said, if he doesn't sell, and the club is "seized" (like a few of the mega-yachts of other oligarchs already have been), he wouldn't get a penny.
They were mostly mid table fodder before the Oligarch took over, he has been pumping in on average £ 75M per season estimated at £ 1.5 Billion, financial doping at it's best, helping to drive up transfer fees and wages as he uses the club for money laundering.
A vague statement about writing off his loans and donating proceeds to those victims of war, a charitable trust whose spokeswoman deflected questions on how the club is being run.
