This universal outpouring of support for Ukraine and Ukrainians right now. Yet still we are hearing the same old sh it about refugees from other parts of the world...the parts of the world mostly inhabited by non-white people. Stop the boats. Taking all the housing. Benefits and a house. Taking all the jobs. Didn't stop at the first safe country. Still the moaning at BLM.

Double standards eh? or plain bias towards colour. I hear parts of Ukraine are Nazi influenced.

Before you all try to attack me, I do care about those schools and hospitals that have been attacked. Innocent lives taken the way they have. It makes me sick that in this day and age this would happen. Yes we should be helping. I’m not trying to be an opportunist here to take a pop at those who have all of a sudden shouting for Ukrainians to be looked after. But we all need to question our moral compass at times. Does it only apply to certain geographical regions?

I know someone will tell me they are real refugees as compared to those arriving on boats. What about countries like Yemen who have been bombed relentlessly to the point of being decimated? Where’s the outcry for them. Like i’ve said before our MSM only amps up the volume for only what they want to tell us.

I wouldn't attack your post....It has valid points.......and in fairness ALL countries are going to have to do some soul searching.
Globalization was a business concept designed with business in mind first and then consumers........
And it has raised many hundreds of millions of humans out of direct poverty....but at what real cost to humanity......????

I get not having a no fly zone as it will become WW3 but Putin will not be brought before the war crimes tribunal anymore than West Brom getting promoted this year! How do you stop Russia and China?

Honestly don’t know what the solution is but the West/Government create their own problems - it’s not news breaking that the Russians and Chinese have been money laundering for years in London! More pressure should be placed on neighbouring countries to deal with Yemen and Afghanistan that’s for sure!

Seems like this conflict has given Boris a get out of free jail card! Whilst the world is corrupt there is no solution. Makes you think would Ukraine have happened with Trump in power? As much as I don’t like Trump if the Russians wouldn’t have invaded - then why?

On times like this the have nots suffer with hugely inflated prices and women and children get massacred. At least this has shown Putin for what he his! I can’t see how the West can deal with Putin again or reverse the sanctions unless it will help someone’s pockets - here lies the clue!

I agree with you Regis that there do appear to be double standards between the willingness to accept Ukraine refugees versus others from Syria and elsewhere. Maybe it’s because it’s closer to home. Maybe it’s because the Ukrainians don’t actually want to be in the UK - whereas many others just want to come for the good life in the West. I always find it curious .... yet never reported ... that rich Muslim counties in the Gulf like Qatar, Saudi and UAE never do more to bring in refugees - they have the space and the money .... yet also refugees never queue up to go there.

The UK is not a perfect place .... and I suppose one of the key pillars of Brexit was to protect our borders on immigration. But my feeling now is that bygones are what they are bygones ..... and we just have to help the Ukrainian people now in their moment of crisis. One thing is for sure ... the world will be a very different place after Putin’s war in Ukraine.

Some interesting points as ever.

However what is the problem if we do have double standards? We should be able to choose as a country what we do, who we support and why. Don’t tell me more or less every country in the world doesn’t have double standards because in my opinion they do. Class issues and inequality are as relevant in every continent and as far as I am aware every country. Don’t tell me it isn’t the ordinary people who lose out in these countries/continents because it is, just as it is here.

Up until recently the USA did think it could police the world and decide to take sides in conflicts. Finally they realised that even they, with all their wealth and advantage, could not decide how others lived, thought, existed. It took thousands of American deaths in foreign shores before the people made their politicians realised that.

We are not perfect no one is but we haven’t half contributed massively to the well being of most of the world over the last couple of centuries or so. Not bad for a small island of less than 0.1% of the worlds population. Some people need to remember that.

Don't be fooled....There is serious poverty in Saudis Arabia and other Emirates in that region....if you are not a Sunni Muslim....you are nothing...treated worse then a dog....over 18% are Shi'ite and have never benefited from petrodollars.....
Most people just want to feel secure and safe in life.......and it would appear that the whole world is becoming unsafe no matter where you live......but Yemen, Syria...and now Ukraine are places I thank GOD each day that I am no were near these places......

I see your points Baggieal and agree some of them. As said by another poster (sorry can’t scroll to see) is that those countries you mention in the middle east could take refugees but nobody is queuing up to go there. And with their Human rights policies, would you blame them. It’s about time western leaders (at least try to attempt to) tell those nations they need to do more. But my guess is those countries have so much wealth they don’t want to share any of it.. because ultimately that’s what will be impacted.
