Thread: A question on fitness

    A question on fitness

I keep reading on here that we look jaded-I agree we do- so why not train the players less?

I am not really into fitness and find gymnasium worship and the beat-the-reaper mentality rather vulgar. But I appreciate there are those who are into it and know a lot more about than I do. So what us the scientific explanation for training the lads at this stage of the season? Surely they are not going to get any fitter or technically better? Why not just get them in Thursday to work on the training ground and Friday for fitness work to get them loose?

IBS, we’d like to assume that common sense would see this. However, with Warne and Barker being the fitness freaks they are, nothings guaranteed.

We are at the tail end of the season and in a position to finish on a glorious high. The last thing any of these players need is to be burnt out by constant gym work. Pre season is there for a reason and it’s not needed now like you say.

A big part of the reason we won yesterday was our fitness. Not sure it’s fair to use this as a stick to beat the manager with.

Yak I don’t think anyone is beating Warney with a stick and maybe IBS is just fishing but, it’s a fair observation by him in regards to our players suddenly looking like they’re on burn out.

Question marks were being asked re our fitness late in games the Lincoln game springs to mind when we were hanging on think yesterday dispelled that as we got better the longer the game went on is that because of the break? Possibly
Let’s at least play our best 11 and we won’t be far away the strongest 11 virtually picks itself yesterday’s team apart from Harding for Mattock Ladapo for JJ you could argue Vickers Ferguson & Lindsay and Reg that’s it

I’ll settle for seeing Reg play from the start

Not sure if it's down to the club regimen or his personal regimen but Richard Wood played for 120+ minutes yesterday whereas Sutton had a 22yo defender cramping up and subbed after 75 minutes. Their 35yo (Milsom) lasted just over 80 minutes. On the other foot, Freddie (having been out 4 weeks) came on around 60 minutes and looked knackered by 70

Can't even muster a congratulations to the team we are all meant to support on here yet can find time to come up with brain dead questions like this. Pathetic.

As I mentioned on another thread, I'm fully expecting IBS to soon be showing us where he's bet his house, car, wife and dog on MK to win the title at 10/1 and how he'll be donating all his winnings to Rotherham Hospice.
