I have several walks in the fens with Molly. Today i was walking in a remote part of the fens near Littleport. I must mention that Anglia has a lot of airbases, mostly American.

In the distance about a mile away, a chinook helicopter was hovering, and it gradually lowered and landed. Its not unusual to see hardware flying around. Landing was different though. It kicked up huge clouds of earth.
It took off gently then edged forward, towards power pylons, the big ones, and by god, it flew slowly beneath them.

It then started flying in my direction, then, it must have been a joke to those onboard, it turned 10 degrees towards me. I was standing on a dirt track with two sets of telephone pylons along each side leading to farms. They were about a hundred feet tall. The way it was going it seemed to be passing over the wires.

It did not, it flew under the pylons just 50 feet in front of me. When i realised it was going under, i felt strangely calm. If it had hit the pylons or wires god only knows what would have happened.

The wires would have snapped, and if they had hit me, would have cut through me like a knife through butter. Im sure it would have brought the copter down, depending on how firm the poles were.

The bases must be training for low level assaults. Ten minutes later in the distance, a Hercules was skimming the tree tops. And so it is with war, whatever turn the war takes, the west will be ready.

The pilot must have been learning where his edges were.
