    Cal Roberts

    Grow up lad!

This Club has been around 160 years and is much bigger than an injury prone winger. Get your mates and yourself off Twitter and deal with whatever issues you have professionally like I'm sure IB is.

Personally I'd cash in on this mardy, injury prone player and move on. No room for divas in our Club.

If anyone is wondering (like I was) it appears that last night a group of Twitter users and footballers (including Regan Booty and Gavin Hoyte of Maidstone) started posting #FreeCalRoberts. Like he's some kind of prisoner at our club.

I'm not entirely sure what prompted this, but some others have speculated they're all mates and did it because they were out on the lash together with Cal.

Meanwhile Cal has posted two very flattering tweets about RR and his hat trick. And if he did get involved in that hashtag on his Twitter I haven't seen it.

I think and hope this is very much a storm in a teacup gents. From everything I've read it could just be Maidstone players trying to unsettle our player.

Why don’t we just leave it to our Head Coach and the player to sort out.
I hope it’s a storm in a teacup too. We’ve got one striker who’s stopped scoring and another who is specialising in away goals only.
Personally, I think we have more chance of success this season with contributions from Roberts and Sam. We’re going to have to break down stubborn teams at Meadow Lane and these two offer us goals and creativity. No player is bigger than the club but a firing Cal Roberts would certainly help us get to where we want to be.

Maybe he's just had a b!tch and a moan about work and his boss to his mates on a night out and they've gone and run their mouths (via social media) and other people have heard about it and get excited about all the unexpected goss on the internet.

For me all this rumour and innuendo very much plays second fiddle to the more important things like deservedly winning at Roots Hall and continuing the club's good run of form as we seek a higher placed playoff finish.

Whatever has happened or hasn't happened whatever ever has been said or hasn't, personally I don't care.

But I realise it's great clickbait so if you are into that thing enjoy#whosgavinhoyte

It could be absolutely nothing to do with football…if they’re all pissed up on a night out then that status could mean anything at all….perhaps he was being accosted in a nightclub by one of bulwells finest specimens!

Without context to the posts we can’t jump to conclusions, I think IB answered the questions regarding Cal pretty well yesterday. Besides, we appear to be a much more resolute unit with our current defence and proper midfield.

Notts County head coach Ian Burchnall insists there is no problem between him and Callum Roberts after the winger was left out of the squad to face Southend at the weekend.

Roberts played 90 minutes for England C last week in their defeat to Wales but was not included in the 16 that travelled to Roots Hall for the 3-0 win over Southend.

All week there have been rumours regarding Roberts' absence on social media regarding his omission from recent squads, having last played in a 3-0 defeat against Stockport County last month.

There had been suggestions from fans that there had been a "falling out," but asked whether that was the case after the victory over Southend, Burchall said: "No. Don't believe everything you read on social media. There's a lot of things on social media, and I stopped reading it a long time ago.

"Cal was recovering and was maybe 50/50 for the Chesterfield game, but off the back of the Boreham Wood performance, I didn't feel we needed to change much there knowing he was going away with England.

"We don't know how the training is going to be controlled there and how many minutes he was going to play. Turned out he played 90, and I would rather he played less.

"That meant when he came in on Friday, he was doing his recovery and hadn't trained for more than a week with us. For me, especially after recent performances, I didn't feel the stress to perhaps create a problem with an injury.

"He rests this weekend. Now, like any player who is out, they have to capitalise on the training sessions next week to try to force their way back in.

"While Cal has been out, we've performed really well, and it's up to him now. Hopefully, that creates the competition that we want that it raises the bar when he comes back in."

Yes,we all get what your saying laddo
But no player is bigger than this club.
Cal Roberts,in the right frame of mind firing on all cylinders could possibly be the difference between promotion or failure.
He and a group of players are regulars on what you could say the pub scene.
I personally would say concentrate more on what pays your bills rather than pishing it up the wall..
Yes we have all been young and spent many nights out when we perhaps shouldn’t of,but this guy has a good future in football.
So get ya **** in nut down, and get back on ya footie son.

Something about these petulant Geordie primadonnas… winding up the manager… winding up the supporters… throwing toys and tantrums.

Liam Noble mark 2…. get rid

The bigger story for me is surely how England C kept him on the pitch for the full 90 - they made 5 substitutions and Cal wasn't one of them. IB seemed more annoyed by that than the social media stuff.

Roberts needs to tell his mates to chill out abit. If he wants to leave then go about it in the right way, we have him as bigger platform to perform on so I think he should remain respectful and professional until he's either back in the squad through his hard work or at another club. We don't have time anymore for people who don't want to be here and just pick up a wage, move them on if they're starting to go like that.
