You wont know what ordinary people think of this situation with a camera pointed at them.......although you can hear it in some who clearly are fed up.......

The Ukrainians are fighting for their country, just maybe the Russian people should do the same. Easier said than done, of course, but true nonetheless. Cancer kills, it is usually killed/cut out, Putin is a cancer.

The Russian people do suffering so well historically, I don’t think they’ll bat an eyelid.

If your body is exposed to physical pain for a sustained period of time...the body will produce chemicals to raise your thresh hold. I have never seen anybody enjoy pain unless it's for the kinky form....
Russia has a serious alcohol problem which has killed many excellent people.....From my own dealings with Russian people...they all say the same....it is not to protect against the cold biting winters.....its to help them deal with the shyte they know they are in....but have gotten use to it to a point......but they have their snowflake generation too.
Noticed the girl who gave the reason for her sadness...."No more MacDonald's"
    Says it all.....

My brother spent quite a lot of his time in Russia over the past decade or so as part of his job role and has some interesting stories to tell to say the least. Overall, he says it is a vastly different culture to others he has worked in and corruption in business dealings was normal and accepted and par for the course. Like Saudi-where he also spent several years-it is a country where areas of poverty rub shoulders with the enclaves of the few super-rich. He always said that most Russians liked Putin because they felt the country needed a strong ruler but after generations of harsh rule this culture seemed to be ingrained and accepted by most and only quite recently were some of the younger people beginning to challenge this and strive for more Western style freedoms. I guess that any country that covers such a vast area and incorporates so many different ethnic populations and cultures is always going to be difficult to rule by democratic means (look at the current divisions in the US) hence the authoritarian approach.

Hopefully, however , the majority of Russians will begin to see through Putin's propaganda but I think this will only happen if the effect of Western sanctions and Russian military losses are severe enough to force a change of leadership. Seems exceptionally important to me that the West now ramps up its military support for Ukraine to ensure that Putin cannot claim the "victory" he is so desperate to announce in time for the May 9th celebrations.

Putin has long played a game of brinkmanship and the West has been wary in its response but Putin is a bully and bullies only respond to a threat of force. For those who worry about "provoking" Putin, this time is already long gone as his numerous recent threats hinting at the use of nuclear weapons prove. Some of this aggressive posturing is surely also down to his fear of the West supplying heavier weapons to Ukraine that might enable them to counter attack and push Russian forces back and deny him his "victory". Certainly the bravery and resilience of the Ukrainians has highlighted the weakness in the Russian war machine as losses in troops, generals and armour has demonstrated. To rely on conscript soldiers and 10,000 plus Wagner Group mercenaries does not bode well and this weakness should be exploited. Of course the supply of such weapons runs the risk of Putin making good on his veiled threats of declaring war on NATO countries but whilst he may be deluded enough to countenance this it is doubtful that many others in the Kremlin would.

Putin threatens stability in Europe beyond what is happening in Ukraine and must be stopped as well as being held to account for the destruction and war crimes already committed in his name.

Few friends have been to Dubai where there’s more Russians than usual. Apparently they are giving it the big I am and looking at westerner’s aggressively!

I know there’s good and bad in every country but I have generally found Russians completely ignorant and don’t want to engage in conversation with westerners.

Keep all their sports men and women banned!

I was in St Petersburg in 2014 just after Russia invaded The Crimea. The family I stayed with were very anti Putin but reckoned 2/3rds of Russians mostly the uneducated were not. She spoke excellent English but has sadly died, he very little so we have lost contact.

I ask myself the question a lot 'As a patriot would I believe what I am constantly fed if I was Russian?'

I read an article this morning where a former political ally of Putin who is now in exile, as he is now opposed to the madman, said that an immediate, total embargo on Russian oil and gas would cripple Putin’s war machine within weeks. It should be done.
