    This lost 10 players thing?

Thought it better to start a new thread so an answer doesnt get lost in the mud of another thread.

Recently seen people put up an argument that TC had to deal with 10 players departing, or lost, half way through the season. As it is Wiki i am using and there are always the accuracy caveats with that, can someone please convince me that is right?

Info i have is that barring the youths on development loans, 12 players departed all season, and one of those is Akinola, which for me doesnt count! The others are....

    Summer:-
Connolly loan/way down the pecking order anyway,
    Jamie Robson Sold/replaced
Lawrence Shankland Sold/replaced by a failure!

    Winter:-
    Louis Appere Sold/Replaced by Watt.
Kerr Smith Sold/2 other youths ahead of him anyway - potential took him away.
Fuchs Sold/ had downed tools maybe, but no replacement.
Mark Reynolds end of time with 3 of 4 ahead of him other than the regular starters at the time.
Logan Chalmers Loan but didnt feature much.
Trevor Carson strange signing and Loan
Declan Glass Loan but didnt feature much
Darren Watson Loan but didnt feature much

As far as i can work out and apart from injuries to Harkes and Pawlett, i can only see 1 player that causes a serious headache for TC to deal with.

    Who am i missing?

Similarily, 6 new players Courts has suggested looking to bring in in the summer. But most likely Benji, Harkes, Butcher, McNulty and Levitt leaving so improvement to squad = 1 player. If the ins are of similar standard to the outs?

Dinnae see the problem with this, we won the league with only 14 players, so by all accounts Tam should have plenty options

We lost options from the bench in the January window. That's my biggest frustration. Guys we could maybe turn to for 15/20mins to inject some pace, trickery or something different. I always thought bringing on Chalmers, Glass, Appere could help us in a game. Watson I had high hopes for after seeing a few cameos from him early on. Now we don't have that and it's hindering us. Their positions have been filled with even younger untried kids like Moore, Thompson O'Donnell etc who are nowhere near ready to even make an impact. Now that we have a lengthy injury list, we're having to use guys like Mochrie, Meekison and now Cudjoe as starters. Guys who themselves aren't ready to start and it's left us very short in terms of strength in depth.

But my point is this claim that TC had to deal with loosing 10 players, and as far as i can see, it is simply not true. In the first half of the season, the likes of Glass and Chalmers were given a chance to be that change of pace and for whatever reason, they were loaned out and i fear for their futures. On the other hand, Appere had been given plenty chances, and while i thought he was coming good again, the offer came in and off he went. Watson maybe deserved to be given more of a chance, but maybe he is at that point where a loan develops him more.

Now, we have written our replies either side of a draw v Ceptic, and ive not seen the game, but by all accounts ive seen so far, some of those players that you say are not ready or we are having to use have done us proud tonight. Just like the bunch of youngsters who were unlucky not to pull off a Covid miracle at Ibrox earlier in the season.

Whether we like it or not, part of TCs remit is to bring through the youngsters, and while we both think there is a lack of strength in depth that i feel has been there all season, TC obviously has confidence in those youngsters to fill the gaps.

I'm really not sure why you're getting so worked up over the 10 thing? Whether it was 8, 9, 10 or indeed the 14 that it was (including loans), we brought in 4. One of whom is already away back to his parent club and the other has never kicked a ball for us. We're £2.5M in debt, have a wages to turnover ratio of 132% and as a result of this Tam was told to slash the wage bill and wasn't allowed to replace as he'd like to. It's hindered us as we now lack strength in depth. That was my original point.

If you think im getting worked up about it, your way over-egging the importance of this board.

I have just seen this 10 players thing banded about and didnt think it was correct and wasnt sure if i was missing something or if it was just plain fantasy? As to a lack of strength in depth, i dont think its as bad as you think as the youngsters brought in have done a job when called upon.
