Best £ for £ purchase since K.K. bought Alan Shearer

On the thread about Bruno, I suggested that Bruno, from what we've seen of him up to now, is the best £ for £ purchase since Alan Shearer and Zip suggested it would be an interesting debate.

Already Xamand has suggested Cabaye and Tiote, both great shouts.

As there will be many other posters with their opinions and favourites, let's have a bit of discussion and exchange of opinions.

Something to argue the toss about during the off-season.

Well, technically, I guess Hi Fans has to be in there as we bought him for under £2 mil and sold him for £30 mil

David Kelly, you could also argue, given that he effectively saved the club?

Coloccini is probably a contender. £10.3 million and 275 games for the club

Aye, Colo is a good shout.

Shay Given-one and a half million quid for 12 years service.

Am assuming Hi Fans is Perez? In which case, although unpopular around here, I was also going to suggest him. 179 apps, 42 goals really isn't a bad return - never really understood the stick he got (before his shoddy response to it).

In a £ for £ debate, how do you deal with free transfers? Do you factor in wages (if known)?

No, bud, Hi Fans is Sissoko

I called him that after seeing his 'welcome' video when he joined Spurs. His first words were 'hi, fans'.

    Well, it amused me.

That doesn't say "Hi Fans" was a great player although Spuddix money men must have thought so.

Does anyone know what wages Collo was on as his purchase price works out at £37,000 per game as opposed to Shearers of £59,500 per game.

Given was a mere £1,450 per game.

This might be a good way to value a good player.

    In my recent memory.

Ba for free, served well, sold for a proifit.

Lee about a mill for a decade service.

Cole or Beardsley maybe 1.8 and under a mill. Bellers deserves a shout. Carroll, but not really a signing.

    Going Lee.

Don't know if the measure is only goals per game.

But Kebabs has to be right up there. Nearly singlehandedly ran the midfield when we finished 5th with an interesting assortment of players and Partdue (credit to him today for leaving the racist club) running the show :eye-roll:

Didn't he sell for 5x what we paid for him or is that my dodgy memory?
