    Weghorst tonight

Anyone see his unstoppable header at the Lego Stadium to win the game against Wales tonight?
Why couldn’t he do it for us ? Perhaps he needs a pair of Dutch clogs instead of boots !!

Lovely goal that Malwayne. He has been with us for half a season and I did not know he could head the ball. Then again he did not get much service from our non existent wide men.SD was probably teaching him to head the ball out of our own penalty area.[/QUOTE]

That header might help us to get our money back.

Jutkiewicz never scored a goal for us, he's scored for fun at every other club he's played for, Vydra was top scorer at Derby, Weghorst was one of the top 4 scorers in Germany. Why those three couldn't score for us is a bit of a mystery.

It all comes down to a bit of luck. All the players you mention have missed chances with us, however, as Sean would say, it is down to fine margins. If players get in postitions to score, then, as a coach or manager, I would praise them because they have done what they are supposed to do, however, they do not always finish the job. Why? As you say it is a mystery, but a lot of it comes down to a bit of luck.
Weghorst's goal was a beauty, however, he did not have to jump to score it and that is why he got so much power into the header.

The header was a beauty but jump or no jump
Is nothing to do with it ( it was special ).

The short comings at Burnley are he gets no service from the bi line width as we simply don’t play that way , yes we deliver ball in the box but from deeper positions generally , and let’s be honest most of the ball played up to him he has his back to goal as did Wood before him.

Posted this before weghorst isn’t a bad player the Burnley system was flawed that’s all and at the end we simply couldn’t deliver enough from wide positions- Mcneil - gone of the boil doesn’t drop his shoulder and beat a man and deliver ball for the forwards coming on to it JBG ( sick note - say no more ) , Lennon made the runs to do this but doesn’t receive the ball to carry it out .
I posted many times about our wide men constantly narrowing play , they come all the way back to the half way line to what I call hold hands with our full backs ( in fact our full backs have more idea about going past a man and delivering ball than any of our wide players.)
When you take the above into consideration you can see why someone like weghorst and wood are starved of service

He missed quite a few absolute sitters as well, which just has to go down as one of those things, they all miss them, it's just more noticeable when it's for a team that doesn't score many.

Don't know what Dutch speak is for "bottom lip sulker" but apparently Roberts had plenty to say to Weghorst after he scored with that diving header! Something along the lines of, "Why couldn't you do that for us you useless c*nt?"
