ot - Just booked our first cruise

14th May next year for two weeks .

    Southampton
    La Coruna
    Majorca
    Florence / Pisa
    Marseille
    Barcelona
    Seville
    Southampton .

We were planning this before lockdown but we've held off since just in case we got another wave which isn't exactly great when on a cruise ship .

Time for me and our lass to create some memories , we've done the hard yards and if we like cruise holidays then we will see as much of the world as we can .

We thought first just to dip our toes in the water and see if we like it before spending a bit more exotic so to speak .

£895 each plus spends , drinks and trips in port .

Can't really complain at that , we went to Torquay in 2019 for a week in a hotel and it was £700 each plus spends .

    Sounds good Animal.

Tha'll miss Barnsley FC in the Wembley Third Division Play Off Final against Sheffield Wednesday though.

(Final on Sunday 28th May. If tha docks early a swift train darn to London leaving your lass to mind the luggage all day in the rain on Southampton Quayside and tha could make it.)

Aye it's crossed my mind SB but even if I miss the play offs plus Wembley at least we've had a good campaign .

I'd snatch your hand off to have to miss out to be honest .

My advice Animal is to book the drinks package so youve paid in advance. Tour operators seem to offer different choices but the package can also include coffees, ice creams and tips. My Mrs say's its good value.

Any way, just a thought for you. Enjoy

This is why we've gone in to the travel agents this morning Ethel to have everything explained to us before we paid the deposit .

We wanted to know exactly where we stood with the cruise we've booked .

Apparently there's a difference between a cruise on a American liner and a UK one with how they operate .

Ours is with P&O which is UK , the lady who spoke to us is a veteran of 50 plus cruisers and there wasn't much she didn't know about cruise holidays .

Everyone receives a card and you pay for your drinks at the end of the holiday but you can view how much you are totting up at anytime .

Going on what we both drink which isn't actually that much given our lass doesn't drink at all and I'm a few beers man it didn't seem worth it , we couldn't possibly see how we'd spend £400 each on drinks .

Funny thing with me is I possibly drink more at home than I do on holiday , on holiday your up early for breakfast , fresh air etc during the day and a very good 3 course evening meal every night and to be honest two beers and I'm done for .

I'm more susceptible to a three or four beers in the afternoon on holiday but not necessarily everyday because even on holiday in the UK we liked to go on trips and not limit ourselves all the time in the resort .

Good for you Animal, I hope that you enjoy it. I've found PAnd O to be very good. They're a separate entity to the ferry company by the way. The only thing that I've found, and heardother people say, is that you don't get long in the place you visit. But you've chosen well with your particular visits. You'll be voting conservative when you get back 😂🌴

Lol. Good thing about P&O Animal is that you can avoid all of the dressing up for fancy dinners stuff, if you want to. I ain't one for that sort of stuff so it was always good to have the choice. You get to our time of life and it's time to start enjoying these sorts of treats 😉

Arby when the lady in the Travel Agents said P&O I nearly died mate knowing the despicable events of the other month .

The truth is I've swung the leg for years on cruises with her who knows best , there wasn't a chance I was walking out of there today without something booked and a deposit paid .

My partner hasn't a Political bone in her body , there was no escape today on price , itinerary or anything else what so ever .

After 10 years together I'd like to go the full distance with her thanks very much .

Discretion is defiantly the better part of valour in such circumstances .

    😍😍😍

My mum and Dad were brought up VERY POOR, and when we were young as kids we went Brid, Cleethorpes, Whitby, Filey…
They went P and O cruising for the last 12 years of their time together. Some Massive ships, Oceana, Arcadia, Oriana…. The Caribbean, Europe, Even Russia/Norway. Mum loved the dressing up and food…Dad did it for her…. They loved the food, and he busied himself with stuff like “talks by Tim the Astronaut”….While Mum sat in the sun…... The shows together on a night…..
Picked up at Woolley edge…. Cases in the cabin the next time they saw them…… They loved it.!
Mum liked the dressing up, but I think they did it for one night only each cruise……. (Dad indulged her …..) I think they call it a Gala night. I have the most treasured photo of them together that first cruise in their finery….. the happiness, very evident….. they were both probably very unbelieving of the situation given their upbringing of their position that night…… they got the bug, and went many times after.

Hope you have a cracking time.

Florence is the place I want to die in. It’s my favourite place in the world.

Hope you enjoy it too .
