He’s an awful, obnoxious t w a t.
As soon as he comes across Nadal or Djokovic he’ll unravel.
He was spitting at the crowd during a first round tantrum FFS.......the guy is an uncouth animal.

Anyone watch him play yesterday? The guy can be very entertaining and he can also be a complete knob who makes Mcenroe's tantrums of the past look almost angelic. He is also a very good tennis player and I wonder how far he could progress if he spent more time concentrating on his game and less time deliberately winding people up or showboating.

Total uncouth git. The crowd that follow him are just as bad. The Wimbledon crowd is changing from the polite, fair and enthusiastic to something akin to a football crowd. It won't be long before we start hearing ''the referee's a bast*rd'' and ''you're sh*t and you know you are.''
Probably the best player in the world. The only player he's not capable of beating is himself. That's the only reason he hasn't been dominating the game in my opinion. His mind isn't capable of "locking in" for long enough. As soon as his interest goes he's off. A total non conformist.
He’s a t wat but some could say it’s good marketing as you will always remember his name! You do need some aggression in tennis as usually the outspoken, aggressive and mouthy ones do well. My younger daughter is a good tennis player but her fault is not enough aggression - she will play another player who shouts the ball out and it’s not but carry on. Unfairly I have seen an opponent win but she ignores me when I say - play them at their own game!
Spitting and hitting the ball in the crowd though should result in a ban!
Bad boys though can sometimes get the crowd on their side - cap back to front - jack the lad etc etc. It works!
Saw a recent documentary on McEnroe which was very interesting. He claims his aggressive nature was something he developed when growing up in a tough neighbourhood and he just carried that on with him into the more polite atmosphere of Wimbledon as he simply didn't see any reason to change and not be himself. Apparently, he has opened a tennis centre in his home town to try and encourage more youngsters from under privileged backgrounds ninto the sport.
His relationship with Borg is also interesting and reminded me of the Hunt/Lauda one. Fierce rivals on court, in private, McEnroe was very supportive of Borg when he was going through a tough time and wanting to give up the sport, sell his medals etc.
Sounds good and loved Borg too so not surprised!
I thought it was senseless sending Boris Becker to prison - he hid his assets when he went bankrupt which many would do in that position. Companies like Amazon cheat all the time but hey the little man can’t get away with jack s hit! Beckers life completely ruined for what and rapists don’t even get those sentences. They could have made him do community work and taught tennis in deprived areas so giving something back to the community!
