    Woody now up against it

With the arrival of Hall and Peltier, Woody will really have to press hard both in training and presence on the pitch.

No matter how many games he gets to play this coming season, for me he will go down in absolute folklore and will always be classed as a legend at the club.

Here's to him staying fit and that he can contribute well throughout the season. A true leader, a Captain, a man mountain.

    Good luck Woody.

    Agree Brin.

We have some good cover in defence.

    Strikers, mind you ....

Maybe we are taking advantage of the 5 sub rule and making sure we have cover for when teams bring on fresh strikers, we can bring on fresh defenders.

If Woody doesn't play a single game this season because of other players playing great, fantastic. He will but you get what I mean. Fully agree Brin.

It also worked for the King....started as a defender at Tranmere. One day they had no forrads so their Manager told Ronnie to play up front as he was big and strong.....the rest they say is history. RonnIe was though in his early 20's.....then again if you don't have to move much but be in the right place at the right time....nah come on it would never work although Woody does go off up front at times. Thing is, it's how long it takes him nowadays to get back!

FAO gru. Take a look at Wood's stats pal and tell me he's not good enough. In the last four seasons he's played more each year, 27, 28, 32, 45.

Like a fine wine he just gets better with age......yes time will catch him up at this level but our warrior is not ready to pack it all in just yet

Wood's extra year,in my opinion, was a gesture for 'services rendered!' He will know that. An investment for dressing room stability and standard driving.

You mean the two goal hero cult status he gained at Wembley and promotion back to the Championship for the club? If so yes you're right.
I met him in the Hilton after the game and he expressed he hoped then he could get a new contract. I told him not to worry, as what he had just achieved, will more than get him new contract, I wasn't wrong either.

A new defence coach in the making and not just a job for one of the old boys?
