    O/T Horseracing use of whip

4 times over allowed no. of times 7 flat 8 jumps then under new proposals the horse gets disqualified. How you work that re. to gambling concerns me. Delay the problem I'm a punter not as much as I used to be but I've done it need winnings if my horse wins to carry on gambling. This year's Grand National winner if new rules were in then would have been disqualified whip was used 14 times then. Another thing longer the race in distance I'd have thought the whip if needed would be used more.

They shouldn't have a whip at all.

Need it to control the horse. Direct the horse where it should be going.

Bull shine. A good jockey doesn't need a crop. Imo the rule should be. Whip the horse as many times as they want as long as the jockey gets the same amount of whipping

If you want to race animals fine just don't be cruel to them.
I'm embarrassed to say I once punched a horse, but tbf he started it

A further example of the sanitisation of sport by those that have no interest in it. Just a desire to meddle

Just sterner fines to jockeys bans if they continue overstepping the allowed times for the use of the whip. Not disqualification to me it's unworkable delay it would cause to get the official result.

So you're saying that if the jockey breaks the whip rule then he/she should just get a ban but keep the race? If that's the case then what's the point of having rules on how many times you're allowed to use it? and how would the jockey who finished 2nd feel if he/she had adhered to the rule? The delay from a stewards enquiry would not be too long. The most obvious thing would be to ban the whip altogether although I agree with you that it is needed at times to keep the horse going straight.
