O/T CISWO Launch Energy Grant to Vulnerable Former Mineworkers / Families

CISWO - The Coal Industry Social Welfare Organisation have launched a £200 energy grant, to
former mineworkers / families with the rise in fuel costs in 2022.
The one off grant is now available for people on a low income, who meet certain eligibility criteria
    , one grant per household.
CISWO's personal welfare team will be identifying people in need & supporting them to get the
help they are entitled to, aswell as the CISWO grant, they will people obtain other financial aid
    & subsidies from the government.
Team on hand to offer wider support sevices to former coal miners & their dependants, through
    the personal welfare service.
Who can apply - Need to have worked 10 years or more in the coalmining industry,
miners / or partners [ of any gender ] & dependant children, including after death of the mineworker.

I was at the Scarborough miners convalescent home in June, & announced the news to other
mineworkers, & mineworkers widows, plus ladies who worked in the pit can**** etc, which no one
    knew about.
I have been in touch with CISWO at their head office in Pontefract, to which I asked them to e-mail
me a form, so I could download it, make copies & give them out to people who might qualify, but
there is no forms to fill in, a person who might qualify wanting to put a claim in for the grant must
telephone CISWO at their Pontefract office.
Someone will come out to a persons home & discuss whether they qualify, its more or less means
tested, but there are a lot of widows who only get a state pension, & a mineworkers pension from
their deceased husbands, who could qualify.
I have passed details on to different people who might qualify, I would not qualify, so no good
me applying, but there will be people who do, so if you know anyone connected to mineworking
who may be on a low income, pass it on, specially if they are on benefits.

The Telephone number for CISWO at Pontefract, covering Yorkshire Area -

Thanks for posting that ELK. I hope some MMadsters are able to benefit from this or if not are able to pass on the information to help someone who would benefit.

I know about the Whiston address lolmorgan, but after my contact with head office in Pontefract, applying for the
£200 energy grant etc has to be through the Pontefract office.
A lady called Beverly Keers from CISWO Pontefract contacted me by e-mail, & said that anyone applying should
ring the Pontefract main office on - 01977 703384

[Could be that anyone in our area could be visited by a person from the Whiston, Rotherham, after they have applied
for the grant through the Pontefract office.]
