    Shelvey

Has a hamstring injury according to Lee Ryder and will be assessed....i wonder if we'll make a move for Paqueta if it's serious?

He gave up a lot of his holiday to work on his fitness, didn't he?

Another who has benefitted from the Howe effect-hope it's not too serious.

He looks in the best shape of his Newcastle career to me. I think hamstring injuries are 3 weeks out minimum. We should find out how serious it is in the next couple of days

Yeah it looks like Shelvey has woken up and smelt the coffee.

He's really looking sharp and fit.

However at his age and the fact he's not really ever been a player that works at a high rate of pace.

We will see how it shakes out this season in terms of his physicality after being on a low fitness level under Cabbage. Being at top level fitness can see some older players bodies break down.

Hopefully he'll be able to move the ball with the excellent accuracy he is known for but at a more rapid rate to keep pace with Bruno and J7.

That said, I think it's clear that adding Paqueta to the team would improve us exponentially.

Dream signings for me before the window closes would be: 1 from each of the 3. However if we bring in Sesko then we'll need to bring in Zapata too.

    1 - Paqueta
    2 - Asensio / Draxler
    3 - Werner / Sesko & Zapata

    2nd tier selections

    1 - Hudson-Adoi
    2 - Arnaud Kalimuendo
    3 - Kamaldeen Sulemana
    4 - Andrea Belotti

If we make no more signings, I think we'll see Longstaff start in place of Shelvey against Forest.

Him and Bruno seemed to have clicked well together.

With regard to Shelvey, nice to see him pull his finger out and start trying to be the player we knew he could be. . . 5 years ago.

Craig Hope says he will be out for 3 to 4 weeks. Keith Downie saying 2 weeks. So not too serious, hamstring injuries can be much longer

That's probably the best we could hoie for. As Jammy says, Longstaff will most likely takes his place and I'm ok with that...not sure about Mids, though
