    Taking the Knee Bollox

Seems like this farce is stopping in the Premier League - thank f uck for that!

Hope to God it’s stopping in the Championship. West Brom looked like a bunch of tarts taking the knee bollox at Middlesbrough whilst the Boro team refused to do it!

Which players in our team are encouraging this? Obviously there must be some players scared to refuse especially as other teams like Boro decline this joke of a gesture!

As there no individuality in our squad or if one says jump in the river - they all will!!!

This taking the knee has done what it set out to do and your condemning it. Tell that to the Black people who it effects. I cannot believe some fans,if we take the knee I’m right behind if we stop and do as the premiership are doing I’m right behind them. I will never condemn it as the black people still need our support

I’m glad this is coming to an end.

The problem with it is that it’s not about “free speech”, people who haven’t felt comfortable doing it have felt forced to do it due to the backlash they’d get if they didn’t comply.

This isn’t support, it’s being coerced into doing something which in itself is horrible.

If I’d still been playing Sunday league football I wouldn’t have done it and in my days as manager I would’ve left it up to each player to decide.

However, if I heard anyone abusing an ethnic friend or a stranger being abused I would step in.

I don’t need to be forced into a token, coerced act to support people who differ from me.

Same goes for millions of other decent people.

I’ve said it before, there are white lads who don’t take the knee. The fact people don’t know this is a sign that there is no coercion for white footballers to do it. Alonso at Chelsea hasnt don’t it since it started.

It’s literally showing support against racism in football and society….not really a big gesture. I don’t exactly feel sorry for any white lads who did it but didn’t really believe in it. It doesn’t exactly hurt their knees!

Saying that, it’s message has got diluted over time and it’s good to have an end point.

Many black players refuse to take the knee! Supporters go to football matches to watch sport and not to kneel due to some violent crack head in another country! Nobody takes the knee for Lee Rigby who was butchered and beheaded. Shame this turd was not executed!

Many black supporters cringe at taking the knee too ! Presume you were’t at Boro - lovely black guy sitting near us and he was embarrassed at our team taking the knee whilst Boro didn’t!

Other things need to be done to kick racism out of football but not this pathetic ritual which takes the message backwards!

Did you watch the girls Euros? No drunks - no racists - no thugs - no stench of urine - no bad language. Get the picture!! Families loved it because it was family orientated!

West Brom should be more worried with the absolute thugs who go to the away games - week in week out! At Boro a blue smoke bomb was lobbed on the pitch near the players delaying the game and burnt a blue hole in the turf! Every week it happens and taking the knee bollox seems priority! I would love the first West Brom player to have the balls and be the odd man out and not take the knee because he’s individual!

What next a ritual for gays or non gender who are persecuted and even more abused in places like Qatar than being black?

Agree with a lot of that!

Taking the knee, like so many things, probably began with good intentions but it's become a bit of a joke now and feels like an empty gesture forced upon people who are mostly too frightened to criticise it for fear of being called out by the wokies. Very similar to the seemingly non stop "rainbow" displays that everyone and his dog is falling over themselves to show they support.

Both racism and homophobia/anti LGBT are sadly still issues and need to be addressed but this is primarily through education and debate not gestures that have become empty ones. Taking the knee won't stop the racist keyboard warriors or others so another tact is needed.

Totally agree! Once this is removed though far more should be done for racism or any other thuggery and much stricter sentences applied - including violence at matches or outside grounds. Goes back to women’s matches - great carnival atmospheres for the whole family and no hint of unrest.

You're right too about the "carnival" atmosphere that the women's Euros seemed to generate and I also think it's good that the sport has this family atmosphere to it -especially at a time when mens football seems to be seeing an increase in the return of what might be termed "toxic masculinity" with the attendant hooliganism and racism.

If anyone takes my knees I'm quietly confident they'll give them straight back to me 😊 .

So what you lot are all saying is taking the knee should never have been started.
Most black players took the knee the likes of Zaha are few and far between and he’s just arrogant he thinks he’s right with everything.
Can’t understand why some think it’s a joke and as for some being coerced into doing it is rubbish we are all individuals and have our own minds and if they didn’t agree with it they wouldn’t do it.
Cannot see what’s wrong if as a group they decide to keep doing it. If some individuals don’t want to do it don’t it’s not forced on anybody.
