Viktor has been great for us, but should we consider selling him at the end of the season? His stock has never been higher (apart from the injury) following a fantastic season and international call up. He's also under contract for at least a couple of years I think.
I'd love to keep him and Josh Vickers, but are two top class goalkeepers a luxury we can't afford given money is tight and we need to spend further up the pitch. Vickers took up where he left off before the injury yesterday and maybe suggests we could/should cash in and reinvest from sale of Viktor while we can.
NO!
Goalkeepers, especially at this level rarely attract huge transfer fees.
He is worth more to us with the points we earn due to his saves.
We are lucky that we have 2 excellent Keepers and Vickers will probably see the season out but Viktor is my first choice.
I personally don't think we'll have a choice, the way he's played this season there has got to be some team prepared to make a decent offer for him and as we all know, unfortunately we won't be able to turn it down.
We've certainly no chance of keeping him if we go down.
No
I expect people will know who is is now and giving his young age and talent suitors will be sniffing.. It will be hard to keep him but having that 2 year contract is huge and a decent fee would be commanded . GK are hard to value .
Yes
It's inevitable
Sell whilst his stock is high
Obsolutely not.
He is our best player by a mile, he thankfully signed a new contract, so he won't be leaving unless it's a big fee.
I'm revisiting this having given it further thought.
Goalkeepers are a very rare commodity. It's a position you don't overfill like having 5 midfielders are 6 defenders or 4 /5 forwards at the club.
Sell Viktor and Vickers gets injured then what? You're scrambling around trying to find an urgent replacement who, may not be anywhere near as good as what you hoped. Or you in turn have to pay top dollar for a decent repalcement so where's the benefit in doing that?
A good keeper should be kept at all costs wherever possible. Yesterday was a prime example where Josh had to stand in for the injured Viktor.
Imagine if we'd sold Viktor and Josh was the one crocked? Doesn't bare thinking about does it?
I think it’s a case of can we afford not to sell, he will command a big fee & I don’t think we could turn it down. That’s the trouble with being a small club & if the right team comes in for him would we stand in his way.
