Totally agree about what you are saying but the club have no say in the matter. The overall agreement is struck by the SPFL and the tv co. BBC in this case. A club can apparently be on as many times as the BBC want but can only be scheduled for twice at home in the season proper. We will definitely get another Friday night at Dens then.
Same with The The Rangers and Celtic. Most of their away games are covered by TV. We're considered the biggest club in the division and probably still favourites to win it so they want to cover us. Yes, they're as deluded as we are.
It also makes some sense to the home sides as we are the team that carries most travelling support. So if our travellng support reduces by 50% for a TV game the home club probably still gets more through the gate than they would for the visit of most other sides.
Queens Park are ground sharing at Ochilview home of Stenhousemuir FC but they were late to signing up to play their home games there this season as Lesser Hampden is not ready for use.
Queens Park are third in line to play at Ochilview as the East of Scotland club Syngenta FC had already signed up to play their home games at Ochilview before Queens Park belatedly decided to also apply to use Ochilview for their home games.
Queens Park seem to prefer playing their home games at Ochilview on a Friday evening when the pitch is not available for a 3pm kick off on a Saturday afternoon as they played Arbroath FC at home last Friday evening.
The moving of the Ayr and Queens Park games has nothing to do with TV.
I don't think it's Friday nights that are the problem on their own. It's not knowing what the regular time is for football.
If every game was at that time on a Friday at least we would know and could plan, the chopping and changing causes havoc with family routines.
Personally prefer night games but not this way.
The Ayr game has been moved to the Friday evening with the agreement of both clubs because the SPFL stupidly in my opinion have a full fixture list on Christmas Eve. Anyone with half a brain knows that public transport finishes early on Christmas Eve but not the bosses at the SPFL.
The Queens Park game has been moved because they are belatedly ground sharing at Stenhousemuir’s home ground which is also used for the home games of a non league team.
Queens Park are third choice for home games resulting in them having to move from a Saturday 3pm kick off to some other time during the weekend.
What p1sh, folk travelling to ayr will be on supporter buses or cars, the Querns Park match could have been a Sunday if it clashed with Stenhousemuir
Not everyone who goes to away games travels on supporters buses or by car.
Other supporters from out of town might decide to travel by public transport.
It was stated that both clubs agreed to moving the Ayr United game from Christmas Eve to evening before.
Footballers are entitled to a Christmas break and if it avoids playing a football match on Christmas Eve with a 3pm kick off then so much the better.
