Thread: Matt Taylor

    Matt Taylor

I loved Paul Manager,I still think he is our best ever manager,so was sad and dissapointed when he left, and I thought the timing was a bit strange, but he` gone.
It`s early days but I really like Matt Taylor,in lots of ways his attitude to football and our club is very similar to Warney`s,I think he "Gets" what is needed at Rotherham United.
I think he has inherited a good group of players, probably the best at this level for many years, and again that is down to the previous manager, but he has took them on,and is doing really well with them,in some cases we have seen improvements already,I really think we will survive this time around, because we are better, and I think the league this time is not as strong.
As has been shown in the last couple of weeks,we will always struggle at this level, simply because we don`t have the strength in depth of most other teams, but the last 3 games have showed we can compete with the best in this league, and last night was a different class.
I think Taylor will look for another striker in January, given our injury problems, and the lack of someone who will get enough goals,however...that won`t be easy.
    So,well done Matty,Proud To Be A Miller.

I think MT will keep us up this season. Ive been impressed with him so far. I think we will learn more about him next season though when he will have to replace all the players likely to leave. His recruitment will be the key to further seasons at this level

I’ve always thought we’d stay up this time but feel more confident now

Just need the players to stay fit and healthy with the odd couple of signings

I've liked Taylor from day one.He is intelligent, articulate and ,in my opinion, more tactically astute than Warne. When he arrived he was very careful not to appear to be changing things but as each week ticks by ,he is. I think a few players were sulking a bit when Warne left because he did mollycoddle them a bit where Taylor isn't that kind of guy,but they are certainly playing for him now. Cardiff aside, the performance levels against Coventry,Stoke,Burnley,Norwich and Sheffield United have been on another level. Recruitment will always be crucial but lets remember that maybe Rob Scott is the man behind why we have been recently successful rather than Warne.

Unlike our previous manager Matty Taylor has a presence. He stands up all through the game. He doesn't wait till it's too late to change things. Couldn't have got a better manager we can afford. January hope he can bring in 2 or 3 signings, that's all we need.

I wonder if there will be a signing from Exeter.

MT seems to be doing OK so far but in the world of football a few dodgy results can rapidly change the opinions of fans.

He seems more proactive than PW and he certainly takes more risks.

He doesn't park the bus at 1-0 up but that penny had finally dropped with Warne as well this season. It had taken him a while to get there.

Everyone seems to have started with a clean slate and Kioso is a shining example of that. He could go on to be a real asset and fan favourite if he gets regular playing time. I had no idea that Mpanzu at Luton is his cousin. He's a legend at Luton, they love him there.

MT hasn't complained about the injuries we have had to deal with. He just plays the hand he's got and gets on with it.

Anyone else see this quote he gave after the game?

"We knew it before the game, I said about 1980 being a long time ago, I wasn't born, but what it would be like for the fans to witness it.

"I used myself as an example because I am a Man Utd fan and the games I remember growing up are United-City, United-Liverpool, United-Leeds, the ones with a bit more spice about them.

"Local derbies mean more to the fans and that certainly meant more tonight.

"It means so much to the players because they have taken a few blows in the last few weeks and that is never nice."

Good for him. As boss he knows the importance of being detached from the players but also how to support them.

I think we should have a MillersMad sweepstake as to when the first Sheffield Wednesday supporter calls (on Radio Sheffield or PorkTalk) for him to become their manager.

They are the Veruca Salt of football fans after all.

What's your betting lads? Surely not THIS season?
