    Car Insurance

After several years with LV being reasonable with their annual increases, although I've had to talk them down a bit once or twice, they've finally peed on their chips this year, a 23% increase in my premium. Nothing has changed, no claims or accidents in the last 12 months, everything exactly the same, but they want me to pay 23% more.

I'm going to have a look round now to see if I can find a company being a bit more reasonable, anyone any recommendations ?

AXA - if you can prove your No-Claims Bonus they are as cheap as chips. Last year before the wife got all angsty, I had three sports cars on the drive, and I was basically getting the three of them insured for the price of one.

We have just swopped the wife's car and the new one cost me £200.00 less to insure than covering the old one last year. I've been with AXA now for 12 years and never had a problem, and their prices are spot on.

sinkov, I was in exactly the same situation with LV. I had been with them for a few years, never had any problems, however, they also upped my premium by around 23%. I trawled around and have ended up with Direct Line who do not go on comparison sites but I got a deal every bit as good as LV as far as the cover I wanted and it was less than I paid to LV last year!

I had one of my MGF's insured with Direct Line and last year they wanted another £400.00 to renew & keep the same cover. I reverted it back to AXA with a multiple car discount and got it insured for £300.00 fully comprehensive.

Moral of the story: SHOP AROUND!

A little tip sinkov - get the quote directly from AXA online - it saves you a fair amount and that I can guarantee.

Cheers guys, I'll have a shop around tomorrow, I can't be arsed just now. I really hate fannying around with car insurance, so LV can certainly go and feck themselves forcing this annoyance on me.

Same with us Sinkov 2 - vehicles both up £100 each and unlimited no claims protected and no claims in last 5 years - it’s a scam.

Well that was interesting, first of all tried AXA, they wanted £301 more than my new quote from LV, so when I'd picked myself up off the floor I tried Direct Line, basic fully Comp was £19 more than LV, fully Comp plus was £69 more than LV. On to Compare the Market and got more quotes than I could shake a ****ty stick at, quite a few from companies I knew were coming in around £40 cheaper than LV but going with any of them would have meant much hoop jumping, so I rang LV, talked them down £20 and stuck with them, it's just so much easier and I wouldn't be making a massive saving by moving.

Thank god that's over for another year.

I think I must have been very lucky with LV, been with them now for over 10 years and have both my wife's and my car insured with them, one was renewed at the start of September the other been renewed at the end of October and both costing less than last year.

But like you Sinkov I had to give them a call to get the original quote reduced, with no changes in cover and having had no claims.
