    Rochdale and Carlisle United

According to Rochdale supporters the club makes trading losses of £1 million per year. Yet the club has no debt. So it must get 'exceptionals' such as prize money and significant transfer fee income regularly.

Carlisle United regularly makes trading losses in excess of £0.5 million and has overall debt in excess of £3.1 million, including £2.5 million to Philip Day's Purepay. Occasionally it gets 'exceptionals'.

It is therefor puzzling how Rochdale have no debt and Carlisle United have such debt with Charge on all assets that the club is effectively owned by Philip Day's Purepay.

Rochdale finances are not as good as people think, we were in the Red last year and with dwindling support from the fan base affecting crowds it is only compounding the issue. We do own the ground outright though & have no significant noose round our neck like CUFC.

The club survives or has done by the talent through the academy, not only do we develop & sell players there are add on clauses if they are then sold on again. Craig Dawson & Scott Hogan are examples of that also young Luke sold for a reported but not confirmed £1mil. We have also had some decent cup runs notably taking both Man Utd & Spurs to replays.

This season has produced one star, Ethan Brierley who was signing on transfer day to Blackburn after issues with Sheffield United's embargo but apparently the paperwork to the EFL 7 seconds after the deadline so was rejected.

Sadly no cup runs this year & heading for the national league does cause a lot of debate on our forum together with we could not give our team away..

    Worrying times..

Im sure all business men take money out of football clubs. Like Cambridge. There are no definitive, true accounts.

Why do you think they do it in ther first place?
