Premier League - Act on illegal streaming of Premier League Matches in £7m scam.
A group of men led by Mark Gould, from London, sold cut-price premier league subscriptions
in a scam described the biggest con of its kind so far.
Five men illegally streamed premier league football matches to tens of thousands of people,
in a scam believed to have been the biggest of its kind.
Mark Gould masterminded the operation from his flat in south east London, he & his associates
sold cut-price £10 a month subscriptions, receiving more than £7m from 50,000 subscriber's.
The Premier League itself prosecuted Gould & his accomplices, in a rare move by the league.
The fraud prosecution was brought to protect " Some of the Worlds most valuable content ",
the leagues lawyers said.
Gould was jailed for 11 years, 4 other members were sentenced to between 3 & more than
5 years.
Gould & co-defendants, were convicted of conspiracy to defraud, money laundering & contempt
of court.
One was found guilty of voyeurism & possessing indecent images of children, discovered on his
computer.
A 6th member of the gang failed to appear in court for sentencing, & a warrant has been issued
for his arrest, the premier league said.
Personal details of many of those who paid Flawless TV [Gangs company], are now in the hands
of investigators, raising the question of what action might be taken against them.
The gang took feeds from broadcasters in the UK, Qatar, the US, Australia & Canada, & streamed
them a few seconds later via the Flawless services.
