    Longstaff

His foot isn’t broken, just bruised. Painful but he should be back soon. 🙏🏻

    Ah, really?

    Mint. Great news.

    Pickford's still a twat, though.

To be honest, I’m not a massive fan of the lad… but as things stand (and as shown against Soton) he is still bringing more to the overall team than Gordon (at this point in time).

If fit, I doubt Gordon would have started, and if Longstaff is fit again then suspect Gordon will be on the bench, as much for the balance he brings (allowing Willock/Joelinton to start on the left) and continuity in a starting line up that is used to playing with each other.

Think Longstaff’s work ethic is awesome, he’s leaving it all out there on the pitch, and I think he’s got a place in the squad for at least a couple more years, but for me he’s not creative enough and gives the ball away too many times with sloppy passes.

Maybe I’m being unfair, maybe we need someone to do that job and if he cuts out the sloppy passes maybe we just that non-glamorous job done in midfield, but at times we really struggle to break teams down… they close down Bruno and stick close to Willock, and the period Bruno was banned comes to mind especially when we drew a lot of games… and we need more creativity from the middle that Longstaff doesn’t have in his locker (imo)

Think Longstaff will probably end up our McTominay if I’m being blunt, a useful squad member but a valued squad member still… but all the above in mind I’m a much bigger fan of him now than I was at the start of the season, and he’s been almost ever present in the team that is sitting in 3rd… but we’ve been luckier than most seasons in terms of injuries… if we had lost Bruno and or Tripper for decent spells of time then his lack of creativity down the right would have been an issue (again imo &#128521
