    Five divisions?

I personally think that having twenty four clubs in the Championship and Divisions One and Two is too many. In my opinion I would restrict all divisions to twenty clubs, as with the Premiership, and introduce a fifth division formed by the bottom twelve from Division Two and the top eight from the National League. To my mind it would be advantageous to all concerned.

No advantage at all to any side that has to drop a division in a plan like this.

Just look at the disparity between the EFL payments to each club in differing divisions.

    Turkeys won’t vote for Xmas.

I take your point, but couldn’t the money be distributed in a different manner.

    Why would it?

There’s always been a massive drop off as you go down a division.

Nobody is interested in voting for a more even split in the EFF I suspect based on the fact they all want to be the highest they can and kid themselves they’ll never see dark days.

One of my best mates was Commercial Manager for Lincoln City a few years ago, when they got relegated out of the league him and a load of back room staff got made redundant as the drop in money paid by the National League compared to League Two was so difficult to manage.

The only change I would make is 3 up from non league instead the current 2.

    That's not fair imo.

Totally agree with you Blood. Notts County should have got automatic rather than going through that lottery!

I think the top six clubs in the Prem should be dissolved. This would solve a lot of problems.

What about going back to the old system of having North and South divisions? This would save clubs and supporters a lot of money with regards to travel and hotel expenditure, Would also get support from our Green friends because of the reduction in carbon footorint.

It doesn’t work even in non league football Tip.

I’m sure it’s Bishops Stortford FC who’ve been put in the northern section of their league because no places were available in the southern section.

Most of their away games now involve huge distances.

A few years ago Workington were in the Blue Square North Premier and due to lack of spaces in the Southern section Oxford City were in the North.

Workington got home a 5.45am in the morning after a midweek match in winter.

It’s just stupid really especially if your home crowds are only in the 300-400 bracket.

Yes I agree Mick, but there always going to be exceptions and Bishops Stortford are a classic example of that. However, in the main, it does reduce travelling. When you move up the rung to the National League level and above, then teams from the South West have fixtures against teams from the North East which involves excessive travel and sometimes overnight accommodation. With travel costs now climbing steeply, I can see more teams going into administration over the next few years.
