Veteran Italian centre-back Leonardo Bonucci has reportedly held talks with Newcastle with Juventus said to be open to the possibility of letting him leave this summer.

The Juve and Italy captain has been one of the top defenders in Europe for over a decade and has made over 500 appearances for the Old Lady across two spells.

His current contract expires at the end of next season and Calciomercato claim his time in Italy could be about to come to an end.

Bonucci is said to have little interest in a move to Saudi Arabia or the MLS as he seeks 'one last important adventure' and Newcastle are now contemplating a move.

The Italian outlet have revealed that an initial meeting has taken place between the Magpies and Bonucci's representatives but there is still plenty to be considered before an offer is made.

Bonucci has won the Serie A title on nine occasions and led his country to their triumph at Euro 2020.

He wouldn't be Newcastle's first big signing from Serie A this summer having announced the £52m arrival of Sandro Tonali from AC Milan on a five-year deal.
