Ground not up to standard, they knew that before they went up. I bet if it was us they wouldn’t have let us go up.
Play the season at MK maybe?
Oddly it’s not fit for the Prem yet it was ok when they played each other in the Championship last season. If both had stayed down it wouldn’t have been postponed.
It's got nothing to do with the FA, it's about Premier League requirements.
Sheffield United had to spend quite a bit to bring Bramall Lane up to standard when they got promoted a few years ago. One of the things they had to do was widen the players' tunnel and I imagine Luton will have to do that plus innumerable other things because their ground has been stuck in a time warp for decades.
Ok thanks
I thought the Premier League was actually the FA Premier League so they would have a decent influence on rules and regs
The point I was making was, to use the example above, why does a tunnel need to be wider for a Prem game than it does for a Cship game? It’s ok to be in a time warp for the cship but not the prem
Genuine question and it might be due to the preference for a wider TV angle in the build up to the game to placate Sky who pay a lot of money.
But then again Sky televise cship games too so maybe that’s not the reason
Surely Luton would have been looking at what criteria would be required when they knew they had a chance of promotion to the premier league? which would have been, at least, 2 or 3 months away from the end of the season. I understand that things would need upgrading, but surely every team that hadn't played in the premier league before could be given say 12 months to implement things? UTM
Seems a long time ago given where we are today but when we finished fifth in the championship 2020/21 and made the play offs the PL and Sky had visited the club even before our play off place was secured .
Most of the requirements I believe are linked to broadcasting , quality of floodlights , capability of multi tv cameras , VAR etc etc .
There are requirements regarding the media facilities too which are expected to house way more than if you were in the championship and have the tech in place that allows them to do their job in today's world .
Presumably the days of the old notebook , pencil and a telephone are well gone .
Image is king today with the PL broadcast to millions around the world and the amount of money other country's as well as here are forking out .
