I've always thought it crazy that a player who is injured in a foul and who consequently has treatment, has to leave the field and wait for the Ref to call him back into play, thereby penalising the offended team. The new laws for this season exacerbate this issue by requiring the 'treated' player to be off the field for a minimum of 30 seconds. Apparently this is designed to deter feigning injury. Which nugget dreams up these new rules!?

While I'm on a rant about the news laws, after watching the slew of cards yesterday, I've just watched a corner in the Community Shield game where three Man City players were being held by Arsenal defenders, each with two arms wrapped around them. Not even a foul was awarded. Have the football authorities got their minds focused on the real issues in today's game?
