If Norwood goes to Oldham …..

……. then that’s got to be the strangest transfer I’ve ever seen in all the years watching Barnsley Football Club.
Honestly I’ve checked the date twice in the last few minutes to see if it’s not April Fools Day.

    WTF !!!
It can’t be reyt this - it just doesn’t add up.

Nothing strange on Grove Street Nudge.

    Doug O’Kane
We’ve just had the first pre-match press conference of the new season with Neill Collins.

Luca Connell is likely to miss the first game with illness. Andy Dallas could be in squad after week of training. McCarthy, Cundy, Benson still getting up to fitness.

I have seen the pictures of James Norwood at Oldham Athletic today. I believe the move is very close.

Meanwhile, the Reds are closing in on a new centre-back signing.

    Just seen the Norwood stuff.

It could well be pillaking. I could well believe Connell's "illness" could be a front to hide behind, Styles, Williams, Kitching going is possible but Norwood to Oldham ?

Must be some kind of bust up behind the scenes or a barmy wage offer with first team assistant coach responsibilities.

Still not convinced about it but this is Barnsley and owt is possible.

It's funny reading The Pack on another message board being embarrassingly positive trying to defend it on behalf of the club.

Only one excuse IMO - and that would be a player wanting to play for his home town club.
    But Norwood ain’t from Oldham.

In the practice games he’s looked fitter and sharper than he’s ever done while at Barnsley.
Why any player would want to move from Barnsley to Oldham God only knows.
Can only think this is a wind up.

If Norwood does indeed go then clearly something's gone off that's prompted his departure .

I suspect Norwood isn't the easiest player to manage and probably falls in to marmite territory .

I also suspect Collins has decided he isn't for him and got him out of the club whilst he can .

I'm only speculating here by the way but I can't think of any other reason .

The last HC handled him well and got a tune of James .

Very often experienced EFL pros will speak up in training or in the dressing room if they don't agree with what's getting asked of them or the team .

Inexperienced EFL HC's don't always have the nous to handle it .

Pure speculation on my part as I say .

Players will not be leaving unless our valuation is met.

Are we to believe Oldham have met the valuation and Wrexham havent? Yeah right!!

According to News Now he’s gone. I wonder if they’re clearing the way for a proven goal getter?
To get rid of a player who’s proved he can do it at this level in the hope that one of the new lads can do a job is crazy but then that’s Barnsley all over. I’m not feeling very confident for this season too much of a wing and a prayer situation.

One or two suggesting it's because Oldham have given him a two year deal but that's just nonsense in my opinion .

Nobody in their right mind would drop from a club expected to challenge for promotion in league one to a club on their ass in the National League for probably less money .

    Something's definitely gone off .
