If ever there wax’s game that highlighted our weakness in midfield this is it , I appreciate cork s be a bit part player this season but him and twine are yards of the pace - I will say Townsend is worth a contract tbh looking at him tonight lean - fit and he’s always been a good player. We need to spend the money on quality midfielder who can retain possession.

Our press was good and high in first half but flat and once they played through it the midfield can’t get back to help the defence - if we play like that in Prem we’ll get murdered.

Yep, have to agree Army.

Central Midfield still hasnt been strengthened and is a big concern. Cork and Gudmundsen arent up to it at Premiership Level. Also, given that they didnt play much in the championship, there has to be ?? over Twine and Bastian.

Behave yourselves lads, Cullen was not playing and Twine looks the real deal to me. Jack can still do it and unless you were not really watching the back four were condensed and integrated into a solid five in midfield.

It might be worth remembering Benfica are the darlings of Portuguese football and Burnley have just turned them over in their own backyard.

Bt , the centre of midfield didn’t have the legs and whilst I appreciate Brownhill and cullen weren’t included , I look at the two tonight and if that s what we have to rely on if either of the above gets injured we’d be exploited in the Prem - I’m sure Vincent has an answer but only saying what I saw tonight and that is Cork -Twine and JBG don’t have the legs for premiership games from minute 1 - twine looks a reasonable footballer in truth but you have to

Word yesterday is he is injured and I don't think he has travelled which in my cynical logic thinks he's being traded or sold.

Thanks BT. On the question on midfield, where does Redmond fit in and, if we sign him up, Townsend? I would have thought that they would be part of the midfield set up?
