It’s finally here, our return to the EFL….here is how I reckon LW will set up today, not what I necessarily would like to see but how he will go, and who am I to question him!

I think we’ll stick with the 3-4-2-1 and am expecting Baldwin to be out injured.

We'll definitely play 3-4-2-1. It's our record-breaking, promotion winning formation. LW showed IB how to play it, starting with playing Nemane instead of DKE all season.

Your team looks pretty good. Baldwin playing is 50/50 I think, but if he doesn't I don't think we'll see Cameron there - more likely Bajrami with Chicksen in his WB position.

The area of intrigue is the inside-forward positions in the box midfield. We have 7 players and only 2 places!

5 from McGoldrick, Austin, Crowley, Randall, Morais, Jones and Scott will know that they're not first choices today. That's tough.

My bet is that LW will start with McGoldrick and Austin. But if Austin misses out for either Crowley or Jones, I wouldn't be surprised.

I did wonder if Austin would get the nod in place of Crowley. To be honest I’m not his biggest fan but perhaps I’m missing something others see? I like his energy and it’s nothing personal for sure but when he starts I think he is often anonymous…..maybe LW sees him as a Park Ji Sung kind of player?

You’re right, we’ve a wealth of riches for those front spots, and I wonder if we’ll ever see Morias play regularly….the situation reminds me of that lad we got from Bradford Park Avenue, I forget his name, but he never got a chance because of injuries and then left again!

I’m also starting to wonder if we could see Jodi Jones play one of those deeper midfield places that Palmer and Bostock play. He’s certainly got the technical ability and vision to i reckon.

Yes, Austin is a bit of an enigma. But on actual production - goals/assists/key passes etc. - he does deserve first shot at replacing RR I think, despite being anonymous sometimes, as you say.

Morias should be worried about his position in the squad, and being buried in the back-up line, but I don't think you can compare him to Lewis Knight, who was a punt on an inexperienced youngster which didn't work out. Morias has proven himself at a higher level.

Morias seems to be part of the club's response to losing it's creative talisman (or receiving an offer it couldn't refuse for Maca). You can't blame our recruitment for taking 5 shots at replacing Ruben. Looks good to me and will probably add up to and exceed the 20 goals, 15 assists and countless key passes that just walked out the door.
